Jamestown (CSi) An investigation into the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department has not shown evidence to file charges in the misuse of government property.
North Dakota ttorney General Wayne Stenehjem in conjunction with the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation began the investigation after it was claimed that a deputy and the sheriff’s son were using a jet ski reportedly owned by Stutsman County for recreational use.
Thereport, said several officers were interviewed from the Jamestown Police Department and Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department.
Reportedly not enough information was found to file charges against any individual.
The state BCI has since turned the investigation over to the Jamestown Police Department.
Jamestown (CSi) Area veterans are invited to participate in the National Salute to Veterans Week, February 14, 20, 2016.
On Wednesday’s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Stutsman County Veterans Service Officer, David Bratton said, the Fargo VA Medical Center will be chock full of activities and events, honoring the service of veterans.
Those include a welcome to the Military Order of the Cootie, Miss, Mrs.,and Miss Teen North Dakota, and musical entertainment.
The week is the opportunity for the community to become acquainted with volunteer opportunities within the Fargo VA HCS.
All events are free and most open to all veterans and their families.

Also on our show, Bratton pointed out that the Fargo VA Medical Center on February 5, 2016 from 10-a.m. to 1-p.m., will host a Heath Fair and Go Red For Women Expo.He added that on February 16th at NDSU a Town Hall Meeting is set with North Dakota Commissioner of Veterans Affairs, Lonnie Wangen.
He noted that the VA has expanded benefits for Camp Lejeune veterans who served there from 1953-1987, stemming from exposure to contaminated water at the base.
Bratton reminded veterans that the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month that the Jamestown PTSD Group meets from 12:30p.m., to 2-p.m., for support from combat veterans from the Fargo Vets Center.
Also the Burleigh County van stops in Jamestown to pick up veterans to go to the Fargo VA, and back again.

The office is in the lower level of the Law Enforcement Center in Jamestown, and is open M-F from 8-a.m., to 5-p.m.
Jamestown (CSi) At the Jamestown City Planning Commission meeting on Monday February 8, 2016, at City Hall, a Public Hearing will be held to amend an Ordinance.
Discussion will be held between the Planning Commission and city staff regarding goals for 2016, with recommendations from SRF Consulting Group, Inc.
It pertains to Traffic Impact Studies. The proposed amendment would establish requirements for the study of traffic impacts created from new or modifications to existing development.
The work session will be held at the City Hall lower level conference room.
| The provision of a traffic impact study with specific development proposals was first discussed with the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) during the development of the Land Use and Transportation Plan.The draft ordinance to be discussed as an amendment would set local requirements for the review of traffic impacts to the transportation system resulting from new development.The staff compared traffic impact study requirements of the NDDOT and other cities during the development of the draft ordinance language. The comparison was provided to the Planning Commission for review and discussion in early 2015. The discussion resulted in the determination of many elements of the draft ordinance.The staff recommends, “To accept the findings of staff, and recommend approval of the text amendment to Section 6.7 and Section 9 of Appendix B and Section 11 of Appendix C to require the submittal of a traffic impact study to the City Council.” WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – No one was hurt when a driver in Williston hit an electrical transformer box and a mailbox before crashing into a house. Police officer Ryan Egerman says the incident happened about 1:15 a.m. Wednesday. The 28-year-old Tioga woman who was driving the car was cited for driving on a sidewalk and fined $20. Criminal charges including driving under the influence are pending. The family of five who lived in the house were sleeping at the time and were awoken by a security alarm and smoke from the car’s spinning tires. BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A Bismarck man accused of stabbing another man has been charged with attempted murder. Twenty-eight-year-old Nigel Wakefield allegedly stabbed the man Monday night after being kicked out of a business for disturbing customers. Police say they have video surveillance of the alleged attack. Authorities say medical workers told them the victim was lucky to be alive. Court documents indicate Wakefield is applying for a public defender. A home telephone listing for him could not be found. He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted. BEULAH, N.D. (AP) – A Beulah day care provider who admitted biting a 3-year-old boy under her supervision has been sentenced to two years of probation. Brandy Aadnes pleaded guilty to child abuse and operating a child care facility without a license. She’ll be banned from child care services during her probationary period. Police began investigating Aadnes after receiving a report about a child being bitten last August. The boy’s relatives told authorities they noticed an adult-size bite mark on his arm. Aadnes later told police she bit the boy to show him that biting hurts after he had bitten another child in her care. MINOT, N.D. (AP) – A Missouri man accused of pointing a loaded rifle at a sheriff’s deputy during a car chase in North Dakota will serve about four months in prison. Thirty-five-year-old Brandon Bradford, of Archie, Missouri, reached a deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment. He had initially been charged with attempted murder. Authorities say a Ward County deputy tried to stop Bradford about 1 a.m. on Oct. 17 because he was driving a vehicle with no right-side tires, only rims. A chase ensued, with Bradford allegedly pointing a rifle at the deputy at one point. Bradford also pleaded guilty Wednesday to fleeing and drunken driving. He was sentenced to serve 120 days behind bars and three years of probation, and ordered to forfeit two guns found in his vehicle.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Secretary of State Al Jaeger has asked a federal court to dismiss a lawsuit that alleges the state’s voter identification requirements are unconstitutional. Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem (STEN’-jehm) filed the motion to dismiss Wednesday. Seven members of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa last month sued North Dakota’s chief elections officer. The lawsuit alleges North Dakota’s voter ID requirements “disproportionately burden and disenfranchise Native Americans.”

| BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Teachers from four states are invited to tour North Dakota coal country. The Lignite Energy Council says elementary and secondary teachers from the Dakotas, Minnesota and Montana may attend seminar this summer on how the coal known as lignite is mined and used to produce energy in the four-state region. The seminar slated for June 13-16 includes a tour of a mine, power plant and the Great Plains Synfuels Plant near Beulah. The Lignite Energy Council says it has been offering the seminar since 1986. Teachers can get graduate credits. Teachers must apply before April 15. The online application is available at http://www.lignite.com/teachers . BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A two-day conference focusing on local foods is being held in West Fargo this weekend. The conference is scheduled in conjunction with the 12th annual meeting of the North Dakota Farmers Market and Growers Association on Friday and Saturday at Cambria Hotel and Suites. State Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring says topics this year will include food safety, extending the growing season, business planning and marketing specialty crops. The state Agriculture Department and the Farmers Market and Growers Association sponsor the conference. The association will hold its annual meeting and banquet Friday night. |

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Super Bowl 50 has been deemed safe by NFL security leaders and top law enforcement officials who say there is “no credible threat” to Sunday’s game. NFL senior vice president of security Jeffrey Miller says he is satisfied with the collaborative effort between local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to handle any possible issues, including terrorism of any kind. Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson says the NFL, federal, state and local law enforcement personnel are focused on layered security, “seen and unseen.”

LONDON (AP) – British police say nothing has changed regarding their intent to arrest WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange if he leaves the Ecuadorean Embassy where he has taken refuge to avoid extradition to Sweden where he’s accused of sexual assault. Assange says he will accept arrest if a U.N. investigation decides that the three years he has spent inside the embassy doesn’t amount to illegal detention. The decision wouldn’t be binding but could affect Swedish prosecutors’ thinking.
WASHINGTON (AP) – Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are scheduled to meet in a one-on-one debate tonight amid the new battle lines over who can truly claim to be the candidate of progressive values. The tone of their back-and-forth has become increasingly sharp this week, and the candidates agreed to add four more debates to the primary season schedule, including tonight’s.
SANAA, Yemen (AP) – Yemeni tribal officials say a man who led major al-Qaida attacks, including the beheading of soldiers, has been killed in an overnight drone strike. Jalal Baliedy headed al-Qaida in the southern province of Abin. The tribal officials say the strike also killed three others. The group is blamed for a number of unsuccessful bomb plots aimed at Americans.
FREETOWN, Sierra Leone (AP) – The World Health Organization is calling for strengthened surveillance efforts in communities and hospitals in the search for dozens of people linked to the most recent cases of Ebola in Sierra Leone. WHO representative Dr. Anders Nordstrom says that while about 70 people are in quarantine, more than 48 contacts remain missing from the northern Kambia district, including 18 at high risk of having the virus.
ATHENS, Greece (AP) – A protest of planned pension reforms in Greece has turned violent. Clashes broken out between Greek police and youths throwing fire bombs and stones as tens of thousands of people marched through central Athens today. No injuries or arrests have been reported. The clashes came as Greek unions organized a nationwide general strike that canceled flights, ferries and public transport, shut down schools, courts and pharmacies, and left public hospitals with emergency staff.
