Update…
Jamestown (CSi) An investigation into the allegation of misuse of government property by the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department has not shown evidence to file charges for defamation.
North Dakota ttorney General Wayne Stenehjem in conjunction with the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation began the investigation after it was claimed that a deputy and the sheriff’s son were using a jet ski reportedly owned by Stutsman County for recreational use.
Jamestown (CSi) The 9th Annual, Giving Hearts Days is set for Thursday February 11, 2016, a one-day online giving event.
Several Jamestown area non-profits are participating this year, including: Anne Carlsen Center, Jamestown Regional Medical Center, St. John’s Academy, The Arts Center, American Heart Association, Freedom Resource Center, Service Dogs for America, Salvation Army, and University of Jamestown.
On Thursday’s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, were Cyndi Wish from the Arts Center, Kendra Krueger from the American Heart Association, and Felicia Sargeant from the Anne Carlsen Center.
Cyndi pointed out that proceeds from Giving Hearts Day donations will go the Arts Center’s Arts After School, and Summer Arts program
Kendra added the proceeds will stay in North Dakota and ear-marked for the Hypertension Initiative, the Cardiac Ready Community program, the Go Red For Woman program, and other programs promoting healthy life styles.
Felicia said the Anne Carlsen Center has head start on Giving Hearts Day as a $100,000 match has been pledge by Gate City Bank, in North Dakota.
The Giving Hearts Day donations will go toward the Anne Carlsen Center’s general operating fund.
In Valley City CHI Mercy Health Foundation will participate.
Spokeswoman Stephanie Mayfield says an “Open House” will be held from 10am-2pm on Thursday, February 11 to celebrate Giving Hearts Day. There will be Valentine treats available as well as laptops set up for assistance with online giving.
She says join the Foundation Board and Hospital Staff at the Valley City Pizza Ranch from 5pm-7:30pm that evening while they serve you and share what’s happening at Mercy Hospital.

BEULAH, N.D. (AP) – A Beulah day care provider who admitted biting a 3-year-old boy under her supervision has been sentenced to two years of probation.
Brandy Aadnes pleaded guilty to child abuse and operating a child care facility without a license. She’ll be banned from child care services during her probationary period.
Police began investigating Aadnes after receiving a report about a child being bitten last August. The boy’s relatives told authorities they noticed an adult-size bite mark on his arm. Aadnes later told police she bit the boy to show him that biting hurts after he had bitten another child in her care.
MINOT, N.D. (AP) – A Missouri man accused of pointing a loaded rifle at a sheriff’s deputy during a car chase in North Dakota will serve about four months in prison.
Thirty-five-year-old Brandon Bradford, of Archie, Missouri, reached a deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment. He had initially been charged with attempted murder.
Authorities say a Ward County deputy tried to stop Bradford about 1 a.m. on Oct. 17 because he was driving a vehicle with no right-side tires, only rims. A chase ensued, with Bradford allegedly pointing a rifle at the deputy at one point.
Bradford also pleaded guilty Wednesday to fleeing and drunken driving. He was sentenced to serve 120 days behind bars and three years of probation, and ordered to forfeit two guns found in his vehicle.
MINOT, N.D. (AP) – Fifteen North Dakota Air National Guard airmen who were deployed to Southwest Asia for six months are coming home.
The airmen are assigned to the Minot-based 219th Security Forces Squadron. They volunteered for the base defense and security operations mission being led by Tech Sgt. Michael Clow.
The national guard says 13 of the airmen are scheduled to return on civilian flights Thursday night. Two more are scheduled to return Friday afternoon.
The group’s mission was to support units in the U.S. Central Command, or CENTCOM. Its covers security and military issues in the central area of the globe and includes 20 countries, including Afghanistan, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia.
WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – Williston’s mayor says removing strip clubs from downtown is not an act of ill will against adult entertainment businesses but rather part of a larger vision for the oil patch hub.
Howard Klug says he thinks Williston will be a regional center. He foresees even more businesses in a revamped downtown when oil rebounds.
The City Commission last month restricted all exotic dancing to industrial zones on the city’s outer fringe within a year.
There are two strip clubs downtown. Officials at Whispers have said that club plans to operate solely as a bar.
Heartbreakers owner Jared Holbrook says finding money to move to a new location might take him more than a year if the economy doesn’t pick up, and he might need an extension.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – MDU Resources Group Inc. has reported a decrease in profits for 2015 due to losses at its North Dakota refinery and warmer winter weather that cut natural gas and electricity sales.
The Bismarck-based energy, mining and construction company says its profits for ongoing operations in 2015 were $180 million, down from $205.5 million in 2014.
MDU and Indianapolis-based Calumet Specialty Products Partners’ $430 million Dakota Prairie Refinery near Dickinson began selling fuel in May but lost money due to low fuel prices and a slowdown in North Dakota oil activity. MDU says its share of the loss from the refinery was $20.5 million.
MDU is the parent company of Montana-Dakota Utilities. The company says warmer-than-normal temperatures across its eight-state service territory decreased natural gas and electricity sales by $7.2 million.

Jimmie Hockey Signs Two
Jamestown (CSi) University of Jamestown head coach Dean Stork announces the signing of Jackson Fulton and Kyle Baron, both currently playing for the Revelstoke Grizzlies of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League.
Fulton, a 6′ 3, 220 pound defenseman from Kelowna, British Columbia, is in his second season with the Grizzlies. In 41 games this season, the 19-year-old has 3 goals and 8 assists while accumulating 45 penalty minutes.
Stork says, “Jackson is a big, strong defender. He’s a shutdown defenseman who’s hard to play against in front of the net and in the corners. Academically, he’s very sound, with a 4.0 GPA.”
Baron, a 5′ 11, 175 pound defenseman from Abbotsford, British Columbia, is also in his second season with Revelstoke. The 19-year-old has 4 goals and 12 assists, with 43 penalty minutes in 40 games played.
Stork adds, “Kyle is a two-way defender who can see the ice extremely well. He’s got a big shot from the blue line which will make him a threat every time on the power play. The UJ hockey program is very excited to welcome both players to our inaugural season at the University of Jamestown.”

LANSING, Mich. (AP) – Internal emails show high-ranking officials in Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder’s administration were aware of a surge in Legionnaires’ disease potentially linked to Flint’s water since last March. When he disclosed the spike in January, Snyder said he had learned about it just a couple of days earlier. The outbreak was also well known within state agencies, according to emails obtained by The Associated Press and other news organizations.
LANSING, Mich. (AP) – Michigan lawmakers are acting to start approving $30 million to help pay the water bills of Flint residents facing a lead-contaminated water supply. Meanwhile, in Washington, Senate Democrats blocked a comprehensive energy bill after majority Republicans balked over hundreds of millions of dollars in emergency federal aid to Flint.
WASHINGTON (AP) – Members of a House committee were left infuriated by Thursday’s appearance by pharmaceutical chief Martin Shkreli (SHKREL’-ee). Not only did he refuse to testify about severe hikes for a drug sold by a company that he acquired, Shkreli appeared to be smirking throughout his hour-long appearance. Afterward, a Twitter account under his name described the lawmakers as “imbeciles.”
BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) – A prosecutor says two Virginia Tech students plotted to kill a 13-year-old girl and hide her body. Montgomery County Commonwealth’s Attorney Mary Pettitt revealed details about the accusations against David Eisenhauer and Natalie Keepers at a hearing. Details about the death of 13-year-old Nicole Lovell had been scarce. Pettitt didn’t give a possible motive.
CHICAGO (AP) – A federal judge is allowing a lawsuit to proceed that seeks to stop “Star Wars” creator George Lucas from building a $400 million museum along Chicago’s lakefront. That leaves open the possibility that the museum as currently envisioned may not get built.
