BARNES COUNTY, N.D. (Valley News Live) – The Barnes County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a man with outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Patrick Harold Jensen is a 31-year-old white male. He’s about 5’8” and 135 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Jensen is wanted for aggravated assault (domestic violence), assault, and interfering during an emergency call. Additional charges against Jenson include failing to stick with his 24/7 program, possession of a control substance and of drug paraphernalia.

If you have any information about Patrick Jensen, you’re asked to contact the Barnes County Sheriff’s Office at 71-845-8530. Authorities will also take anonymous tips at that number

Valley City (CSi) KLJ engineering announces that the permanent flood protection Phase One work will resume east of the Viking Drive Bridge on Monday March 7, 2016,as the closure of Viking Drive Bridge. The bridge and street will be open to pedestrian traffic while under construction., and then reopen when construction activities have concluded.

Updated maps for all road closures will be posted on the City of Valley City’s website www.valleycity.us when they become effective.

Jamestown (CSi) Purses for a Purpose will help raise vital funds for North Dakota Wounded Warriors, in supply a service dog.

The event takes place on Friday, March 11, 2016, from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM at the All Vets Club in downtown, Jamestown.

Guests on the Wayne Byers Show, Friday on CSi Cable 2 included, organizers, Shelley Nannenga, and Karmel Wanzek.

Shelley said participants can bring gently used or new designer purses to the event. Bring two purses and get to pick out two purses. Donate designer purses in advance at R.M. Stoudt and Unison Bank in Jamestown.

She said that remaining tickets are going quickly, and the tickets at $25 each, including the live show, are available in advance at The All Vets Club, Hugo’s Wine & Spirits, and Lifestyle Appliance, R.M Stoudt, all in Jamestown. NO reservations are being taken.

Karmel added that along with designer purses there will be a Live Auction, and raffles and chocolate samples.

She pointed out that along with many others in community support including sponsors, students at the University of Jamestown are supporting the event.

Music provided by Blind Joe of The Voice T.V. show, fame, and Joe Schmidt from Medina.

We visited with Blind Joe on the phone on our show, as he indicated his support of wounded veterans, who will be aided in the proceeds raised, for getting a service dog, that can help decrease the symtoms of PTSD, and TBI’s in veterans.

He will have a CD being released by the end of April this year, saying he may sing a song from the CD at Purses for a Purpose.

Shelley pointed out that Service Dogs for America in Jud, continues to train dogs, adding that the cost of a service dog is about $20,000 each.

 

Jamestown (CSi) There will be a Jamestown Public Works Committee Special Meeting on Thursday March 10, at 3-p.m., at City Hall concerning a report on the Sanitation and Solid Waste Study. (Recycling).

To give the presentation will be Brent Erickson of HDR, Inc.

A 74 page draft document has been put together.

Erickson is expected to give details.

 

 

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – A Williston man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for child pornography.

36-year-old Justin Langer reached a deal with federal prosecutors in which he pleaded guilty to one charge and two others were dropped.

Authorities say they found more than 600 images of child porn on various electronic devices owned by Langer, and that he destroyed computer hard drives in an attempt to hinder investigators.

Langer will be on supervised release for 10 years following his prison time.

MINOT, N.D. (AP) – A North Dakota man with a lifetime sex-offender registration requirement has been sentenced for sexually assaulting a woman while she was sleeping at his home in Palermo.

Authorities say 31-year-old Jon Nesheim raped a 27-year-old woman in 2014.

Nesheim already is serving time for sexually assaulting a woman in Bismarck that same year. His total sentence will now be about 14 years.

Nesheim has prior sex crime convictions in 1999 and 2003, involving 6- and 16-year-old girls.

 

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – A New England woman arrested on drug and trespassing charges is accused of smuggling methamphetamine into the Williams County Jail.

Authorities allege 26-year-old Toni Day smuggled the drugs in a body cavity. She was reported by other inmates.

Day could face up to 31 years in prison if convicted on all of the charges she faces. Court documents do not list an attorney for her. She could enter pleas at an April 21 court hearing.

 

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A teenager accused of making a threat that prompted a lockdown at the third-largest college in North Dakota’s university system is unlikely to face federal charges.

FBI spokesman Kyle Loven says law enforcement has resolved the matter to the agency’s satisfaction.

Bismarck State College was put on lockdown for more than four hours Jan. 14 after the 16-year-old boy allegedly threatened on Twitter to shoot up the school’s library with a machine gun.

Authorities tracked him through his cellphone and arrested him on a Minot-area school bus on U.S. Highway 83 north of Bismarck. No weapons were found.

Juveniles can be charged in federal court, though it’s rare.

BSC has nearly 4,100 students.

 

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Two more potential Democratic candidates for governor in North Dakota say they will not run.

State Sen. Tim Mathern of Fargo earlier this week ruled out a possible bid, and state Sen. George Sinner of Fargo says he also has decided against a run. Sinner says he might not even seek re-election to the Legislature.

Democratic U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp and former state Agriculture Commissioner Sarah Vogel also weighed runs for governor but ultimately rejected the idea.

Three people are vying for the Republican endorsement for governor – Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem, former Microsoft Corp. executive Doug Burgum and Bismarck state Rep. Rick Becker.

Republican Gov. Jack Dalrymple announced last August that he would not seek re-election.

UNDATED (AP) – Donald Trump says he understands that the U.S. is “bound by laws and treaties,” and that he won’t order U.S. military officials to disobey those laws if he’s elected president. Trump says he will “use every legal power” to stop terrorists, but he recognizes the need for restraint under international law. His statement Friday follows an open letter from Republican foreign policy and national security leaders pledging to oppose Trump’s candidacy, in part because of his controversial views including expanding the use of torture.

NEW YORK (AP) – Last night’s Republican presidential debate was the fourth-most-watched debate in a primary season ever, with 16.9 million viewers. According to the Nielsen company, all of the top four have been Republican debates from this year. It was the 11th Republican debate so far; the Democrats have had six.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – An Egyptian flight student who was arrested after posting threatening comments about Donald Trump on his Facebook page has agreed to leave the U.S. by July. Immigration authorities say they’ll let him return to Egypt voluntarily instead of deporting him, as long as he departs by July 5. The 23-year-old (Emadeldin Elsayed) was arrested at his Los Angeles-area flight school last month after writing that he’d be willing to serve a life sentence for killing Trump. He says he was angered by Trump’s comments about banning Muslims but he never intended to harm anyone.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) – The Alabama Supreme Court is refusing to defy the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that effectively legalized same-sex marriage nationwide. The Alabama court issued a one-sentence order Friday dismissing a challenge by a probate judge and a conservative policy group that wanted the state to bar gay marriage despite the landmark federal decision.

WASHINGTON (AP) – Researchers have created a cellular model of the human placenta to help uncover how infections like the Zika (ZEE’-kuh) virus might pass from a mother to her unborn child. A virologist at the University of Pittsburgh says her team created a 3-D model of the placenta’s outer boundary to try to learn how some infections sneak past and harm the fetus, and why it happens in some pregnancies and not others. Their report is in the journal Science Advances.
