Officers responded to a report of a person wearing a ski mask sitting in a vehicle outside of a hotel on Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities say officers made contact with two men, one of whom fled on foot but was caught a short time later. The second suspect allegedly assaulted an officer during a struggle.
The two men were arrested on drug charges. The injured officer wasn’t named.
MINOT, N.D. (AP) – A Minot woman is accused of leaving her three small children home alone while she went to her job.
Authorities allege that 27-year-old Shaunna Rider left her 5-, 3- and 1-year-old sons unattended for more than three hours on Tuesday.
Authorities say living conditions in the apartment including a lack of food also were unfit for children. The boys were turned over to Child Protective Services.
Rider faces a felony child neglect charge that carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. Court documents do not list an attorney for her, and a home telephone listing couldn’t be found. She could enter a plea at an April 28 court hearing.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota Stockmen’s Association is giving a $3,000 reward to an unnamed informant who helped crack a cattle-killing case in Oliver County. The group also is giving $1,500 each to the two ranch families affected by what Brand Board Chairman Jeff Schafer calls “a senseless shooting.” That money comes from a donation by Dakota Community Bank and Trust. Nine cattle belonging to John Dixon and Miles Tomac were gunned down in a pasture on the Fourth of July in 2012. After a three-year investigation, a Hensler man was charged with felony criminal mischief. Dillon Gappert eventually resolved the case by agreeing to pay $5,000 in restitution – about 40 percent of the cattle’s value.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says the city of Washburn violated the state’s open meetings laws by holding committee meetings without providing notice.
The opinion stems from meetings that were held after the Washburn City Commission directed two commissioners to serve on a committee to discuss garbage collection contracts and make recommendations to the commission.
The committee met three times before it made its recommendations at a commission meeting. Stenehjem says the group failed to provide or post any notice of its first meeting and did not fully comply with the requirements for providing notice of a special meeting for its remaining two meetings.
The attorney general ordered the city to create detailed minutes of the committee meetings.

Growing up in the Hill neighborhood of St. Louis not far from future Hall of Famer Yogi Berra, Garagiola went on to hit .257 during nine years in the majors.
