Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Rural Fire Department was called to an Easter Sunday brush fire about 12:30-p.m., about 12 miles northwest of Jamestown, at 28th Street and 76th Avenue where there was extremely dry vegetation.
Jamestown Rural Fire Chief Ben Maulding said property owners had the fire under control by the time firefighters arrived, with . two grass-rig pickups, one tanker and six firefighters on scene.
The fire burned approximately one acre. It was a burn pit that was dug down but conditions enabled an ember to get out and spread quickly to the dry vegetation, trees, a fence and utility pole, that belongs to Dakota Valley and Northern Plains electric cooperatives. The pole was burned but remained standing.
