Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Police Monday afternoon about 1:30-p.m., arrested a male, as the man’s vehicle was pulled over near Lincoln school.
Officer Logan Hord says the vehicle was stopped as the suspect was wanted under two outstanding warrants for failure to appear in court on a previous charge of possession of a concealed weapon violation.
Monday afternoon, a search of the vehicle turned up three automatic handguns, and narcotics.
Two Jamestown Police officers and one Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office deputy apprehended the man. A second individual in the vehicle was released.
The suspect was arrested for Driving While License Suspended.
He was also arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Marijuana and Possession of Meth.
The suspect’s name was not immediately released, pending completion of the investigation.
He was transported to the Stutsman County Jail.
Hord says the man was taken into custody without incident.
Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Fire Department responded to a call just after 10:30-a.m., Monday to Eventide in Northeast, Jamestown.
The call came in as smoke in the basement from the boiler room.
Lt. Sheldon Mohr says the smoke had dissipated when the units arrived on scene. There was no need to evacuate the building.
The cause was electrical in nature, and an electrician was called to the location.
No smoke damage was reported with five city fire units on scene with 28 firefighers for about a half hour.
Valley City (CSi) Five Valley City residents have taken out a petition to run for two Valley City Commission seats up during the June 14, 2016 election.
The commission seats of Madeline Luke and Mary Lee Nielson are up for election.
Nielson says she’ll seek re-election.
Luke will not be running for the city commission seat due to family obligations. She says she’ll continue to work on projects that she started as much as the new commission allows.
Those taking taken out to run for City Commissioner include: Terry Jones, Rick Ross, Mary Lee Nielson, Mike Bishop and former mayoral candidate Jeff Edwards.
Interested Valley City residents have until April 11th at 4-p.m., to turn in to City Hall, the necessary signatures to run in the June 14th election.
Valley City (CSi) Valley City Police Chief Fred Thompson says, several local entities in Barnes County and Valley City will be offering incident command training in Valley City.
Thompson says the local Emergency Planning Committee, the city of Valley City and the Barnes County Office of Emergency Management are partnering to offer the training.
The news release says, students will learn how to use the Incident Command System in the response to any type of hazard or incident, man made or natural. He says it’s important to complete the prerequisite training needed to understand the new material.
All of the classes are available free of charge online.
Intermediate ICS for expanding incidents will be conducted April 25-27 from 8am to 5pm in Valley City.
All training will be conducted and completed at the Valley City Fire Department Station House located at 241 3rd Avenue NE in Valley City.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – Federal prosecutors have beefed up charges against a Minnesota man accused of starting a fire that heavily damaged a Somali restaurant in Grand Forks.
Matthew Gust, of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, appeared in court Monday on a charge of use of a destructive device during a crime of violence. That charge carries a maximum penalty of life in prison and a mandatory minimum term of 30 years. It is the second charge in the case.
Authorities say the Dec. 7 fire at the Juba Coffee House was started by a homemade explosive made from a 40-ounce beer bottle.
A spokeswoman for a group that supports refugees in the Grand Forks area says the cafe owners are looking at ways to pay for rebuilding the business.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A former University of North Dakota medical department chairman has pleaded guilty to child pornography charges.
Fifty-five-year-old Robert Beattie appeared Monday in federal court in Fargo on three counts, including receipt and distribution of materials containing child pornography. He pleaded guilty to two of the charges.
Beattie was the chairman of UND’s Family and Community Medicine Department. He resigned from the job last month, after the school had placed him on administrative leave.
Authorities say Beattie had about 100 videos and more than 700 images of child pornography on a thumb drive seized from his office computer, some of which depicted “sadistic or masochistic conduct or other depictions of violence.”
Beattie allegedly accessed the images between April and August of last year.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Gasoline prices have risen above the $2 per gallon mark nationally, but in North Dakota the average is slightly less than that.
AAA estimates the statewide average at $1.97 per gallon and GasBuddy.com at $1.95. Both say the average price fell about a penny over the past week, while nationwide it rose about a nickel.
North Dakota motorists are paying more than 40 cents a gallon less for gas than they were last year at this time.
Experts say gas prices are likely to continue rising as oil prices strengthen and refineries continue seasonal maintenance.
NEW TOWN, N.D. (AP) – The Three Affiliated Tribes is building a new law enforcement center and tribal court building in New Town.
Tribal Chairman Mark Fox says the tribe has needed a new facility for decades. He says with the oil boom of recent years and a resulting rise in crime, the need has become “critical.”
Fox says the new 30,000-square-foot building will cost about $17 million. Architect Randy Lindemann says it should be completed early next year.
