Jamestown (CSi) Monday evening just before 8-O’Clock, the city fire department was called to Econo Lodge, as 9-1-1 calls reported flames coming from the front of the building, where an outside wall on the deck of a manager’s apartment was burning.
When firefighters arrived on the scene at 7:53 p.m., someone had put the fire out with an extinguisher.
Firefighters sprayed down the area to make sure the fire was completely out, and the scene was cleared at 8:09 p.m.
Five units and 32 firefighters were at the scene, he said.
Lt. Mohr says smoking materials caused the fire.
Mohr says he would have a meeting with Econo Lodge about evacuation procedures. He says, the hotel should have been evacuated for safety.
