During his Valley City presentation Rafael Cruz spoke to the importance of electing a candidate who will bring America back to the conservative roots as Ronald Reagan of the early 1980′s.
Cruz spoke about his son being well read on the constitution, compared to the current president or the GOP front runner (Donald Trump.)
Cruz urged North Dakota party leaders to make a difference and support his son Ted Cruz as Republican delegates meet this coming weekend to select their candidates.
In 1957 he immigrated to the United States with little more than $100 to his name and barely able to speak English, he studied math and chemical engineering at the University of Texas and earned a degree, worked in the energy industry before becoming a pastor.
Rafael Cruz was born in Cuba, and as a teenager in the 1950’s, he supported the overthrow of the oppressive Batista regime which landed him in prison, where he was tortured.
Rafael Cruz’ Valley City presentation was recorded by CSi 10 THE REPLAY CHANNEL, with showings starting Tuesday evening.
Senator Ted Cruz will be speaking at the North Dakota Republican Convention at 1 p.m. Saturday, at the Scheels Arena in Fargo.
Former GOP presidential hopeful Ben Carson will also address convention attendees. His speech is scheduled for Sunday.

Valley City (CSi) Valley News Live in Fargo reports that officials in the City of Lisbon have confirmed that raw sewage was recently pumped into the Sheyenne River for approximately 12 hours because a pump station had failed.
Officials say the main lift station with two pumps failed on March 18, 2016. The pump station is where all the sewage in town ends up. That had to be bypassed and the sewage was pumped into the river from about 11:40 p.m. to roughly 11 a.m. the next day. The City has been in contact with the North Dakota Department of Health regarding what happened.
Authorities add if this bypass wasn’t used, the sewage would have backed up into homes. There’s an alarm system in the lift station that went off just before 10 p.m. Electricians determined that it was not an electrical issue that caused the failure. Officials said because of past floods, they have an idea of how long they can let a situation like this go before having to act.
City officials say luckily it occurred at night so the flow was much lower than if it had occurred during the daylight hours. Authorities say some emergencies are unavoidable and sometimes things just break. It’s unclear at this point if there are any health or environmental concerns because of pumping raw sewage into the river.
WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – Authorities have identified a Williston man who died in a camper fire at a truck stop near the city last week.
The Williams County Sheriff’s Office says the death of 23-year-old Phillip Unnerstall Jr. has been ruled accidental. The state medical examiner’s office determined that Unnerstall died of smoke inhalation.
The fire was reported shortly after 7 a.m. on March 21 near the Pilot truck stop. A Williston woman who also was in the camper was able to escape through a window. Fifty-seven-year-old Patty Fouse was treated at a hospital for undisclosed injuries and released.
The sheriff’s office says the fire is believed to have been caused by a small propane heater that was being operated inside the camper.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – Grand Forks police continue to investigate an early Tuesday morning shooting.
Authorities say officers responded to a report of gunshots about 2 a.m. Tuesday and found a person who appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound. The wound is not believed to be life-threatening.
Police identified the victim as 30-year-old David Gomez, of Grand Forks.
Witnesses described three males leaving the scene in a car. Police said the initial investigation indicated that Gomez and suspects knew one another.

Court documents do not list an attorney for Lewis. A home telephone listing for her could not be found.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Gasoline is again flowing through a pipeline between Fargo and Grand Forks that was shut down due to a leak.
Magellan Midstream Partners shut down the segment of pipeline on March 21 after it leaked about 4,200 gallons of gasoline and prompted the precautionary evacuation of one home in the Harwood area.
The company removed contaminated soil and monitored air quality. No injuries were reported.
A company spokesman says the leak was repaired Friday.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Democratic leaders in the North Dakota Legislature are asking Republican Gov. Jack Dalrymple to call a special session to address the state’s budget woes.
Senate Minority Leader Mac Schneider says he believes a “very brief, very focused” session would help lawmakers make a plan to weather the effects of money problems due primarily to low oil and crop prices.
The Grand Forks Democrat says there was no strategy involved in Dalrymple’s across-the-board budget cuts. Schneider says some individuals and groups should be spared from the cuts.
Jeff Zent, the governor’s policy adviser, did not immediately respond to an email request for comment.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Mild weather in North Dakota in March has been a boon for ranchers in the state.

Trump says Lewandowski is innocent.
WASHINGTON (AP) – The State Department and Pentagon are ordering the families of U.S. diplomats and military personnel to leave posts in southern Turkey due to “increased threats from terrorist groups” in the country. A Pentagon spokesman says no specific threat triggered the order, but that it was done “out of an abundance of caution” for the safety of the families in that region. The move comes amid heightened security concerns throughout Turkey due to the ongoing fight against Islamic State militants in neighboring Syria and Iraq. It was accompanied by an updated travel warning advising U.S. citizens of an increased threat of attacks.

NEW YORK (AP) – Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen is stressing that the Fed still envisions a gradual pace of interest rate increases in light of global pressures that could weigh on the U.S. economy.
