Jamestown (CSi) The County Commission has unanimously approved placing County Measure 1 on the June 14, 2016, primary election ballot. County voters will decide if the Stutsman County state’s attorney position, which is currently held by Fritz Fremgen, will become an appointed position that is appointed by the County Commission or remain an elected position.
The County Commission approved in November having Bradley put together ballot language on the issue after having expressed some concerns about how Fremgen was running the office, including allegations that he created a hostile work environment
In other business, The Stutsman County Commission has approved paying the county’s share of $34,824 in annual fees to be a member of the South Central Dakota Regional Council.
The approval is stipulated on the Regional Council presenting a policy on bad debts and a policy on fund balance. Stutsmancounty auditor/chief operating officer, Casey Bradley, said the council is progressing on getting those policies together.
The County Commission and City Council split the $34,824 fee, with the county’s share being $12,885. Stutsman County/city of Jamestown pays 33 percent of the total membership fees, making it the largest dues-paying member of the nine-county Regional Council.

SkyWest Airlines and Great Lakes Aviation are two companies bidding for an Essential Air Service contract for 2016 to 2018. SkyWest holds the current EAS contract, which expires at the end of June.
