Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Police reports, a 49-year-old man was stabbed Monday night during a domestic dispute with a 27-year-old woman.
Lt. Justin Blinsky reported that officers went to 407 1st Avenue, North, at 11:05 p.m. to the report of a stabbing.
He said officers spoke to the victim when they arrived on the scene. The man was treated to by the Jamestown Area Ambulance Service personnel. He was taken to Jamestown Regional Medical Center for treatment of an injury to his upper left arm and was released.
Blinsky said the injury was non-life threatening and was caused by a knife.
Officers found the alleged suspect, the 27-year-old female, in an apartment complex about a half-block away from the residence on 1st Avenue North. She was taken into custody and transported to the North Dakota State Hospital for evaluation.
Blinksy said alcohol was a factor in this matter.
The man and woman are Jamestown residents.
Blinsky said the incident is still an open case and charges are pending. The Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
Jamestown (CSi) A Jamestown man has been charged with sexual assault Monday in Southeast District Court in Jamestown.
53-year-old Alexander McManus had his initial court appearance Monday afternoon on the Class C felony charge. He is in custody in the Stutsman County Correctional Center and has not posted a bond.
Court documents show, McManus allegedly had sexual contact with an underage female relative at least two times since he and his family moved to Jamestown in May 2015. The most recent alleged sexual contact took place in September.
Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Public School Board, Monday approved the administrator master agreement for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 school year.
The 9-0 School Board vote follows approval on April 12 by a negotiations committee of School Board members and school district administrators. The two-year contract affects 14 Jamestown Public School District administrators who work 204 to 260 day school years as building principals, assistant principals, career and technology center directors, activities directors or technology directors.
The base salaries range from $92,705 for technology director to $117,752 for the high school principal in 2016-17. The same positions pay $95,718 and $121,579 in 2017-18.
Also….The School Board unanimously approved $808,750 to fund district summer projects. The two projects adding up to more than $500,000 of the funding include a dehumidification system for the Jamestown High School swimming pool and a capital projects plan.

Jamestown (CSi) The James River Valley Library System Board of Directors has unanimously approved funding to replace shelves in the perimeter of the children’s library.
Library Director, Joe Rector says, he project, which costs about $12,000, was less expensive than refinishing the current shelves.
Rector said the need for the new shelves was more than visible, as children and other library guests have been getting splinters from the decomposed shelves.
The new bookmobile will arrive at OBS Inc. headquarters in Ohio in May. The bookmobile is currently undergoing body work, and when it arrives at OBS Inc. it will undergo interior and shelving designs
The bookmobile is still set to arrive in Jamestown this summer.
Bill Kennedy, development director for the library, said donations for the bookmobile are at $51,982, with 87 people donating. The average donation, Kennedy said, is $20.

Jamestown (CSi) The Father, Granddaughter, Daughter Social raised over $3,000 for the Relay for Life, fighter against cancer.
Mayda Mueller reported Monday that the function raised $3,330 dollars.
The event was attended by 310-individuals, Friday evening at the Quality Inn & Suites in Jamestown.
Jamestown (CSi) A benefit supper, silent and raffle auctions are set for Wednesday April 20, 2016, from 5-pm., to 8-p.m., at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Jamestown for Megan Dewald.
Megan has been fighting Cysitc Fibrosis all 26 years of her life.
Cystic Fibrosis is a fatal lung disease that worsen with age.
Megan’s struggles now include being on oxygen 24 hours, and has limited her to only the basic activities necessary to function each day.
Her doctors have declared that she needs a double lung transplant, and that it’s time to be put on the lung transplant list.
This is and expensive operation and requires Megan and her mom Cheryl Dewald to live near the University of Minnesota hospital for 3-4 months after surgery. Megan will also have many follow up appointments and procedures in the 1-3 years following the transplant.
Megan will also have a lifetime of expenses for anti-rejections medications.
To help with all of the expenses the community is welcome to help out by attending the supper, and participating in the silent and raffle auction,with a free will donation. The auction will include items signed by former Bison quarterback, Carson Wentz.
Friends for Megan have set up an account at Gate City Bank, under the name of the Megan Dewald Benefit Fund.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A man who was shot by a Fargo police officer last September has been sentenced to four years in prison on several felony charges.
Authorities say Officer Patrick Thomas shot 31-year-old Karmen Redshirt in a parking lot after Redshirt aimed a replica gun with a laser pointer at the officer. Redshirt had emergency surgery and was hospitalized for several days.
A state investigation later cleared Thomas of any wrongdoing.
Redshirt on Monday pleaded guilty to charges including terrorizing and was sentenced. He’ll be on probation for three years following his prison time.
Redshirt told the judge that he is a drug addict and was planning a “suicide by cop” when he pointed what turned out to be a BB gun at Thomas.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A Minnesota man who robbed a bank in North Dakota has been sentenced to more than five years in federal prison.
Authorities say Jeremy Fahleen, of Litchfield, Minnesota, entered a Gate City Bank in Fargo in April 2015, handed a clerk a threatening note demanding money and fled with nearly $7,300 in cash. He was arrested the next day in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Fahleen pleaded guilty to bank robbery last November. U.S. Attorney Christopher Myers says Fahleen was sentenced Monday to serve five years and three months in prison and pay about $3,800 in restitution.
Myers says authorities recovered the rest of the money when Fahleen was arrested.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – An enrolled member of the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation is accused of killing one man and seriously injuring another in a knife fight on the reservation earlier this month.
Dallas Thundershield is charged in federal court with murder and attempted murder for the April 9 incident. An affidavit released Monday shows that Richard Dumarce Sr. died of a single stab wound to the chest and Elvis Demarce survived multiple stab wounds.
Demarce’s condition was not available.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled next week in Grand Forks. A federal public defender was not immediately available for comment.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s Housing Finance Agency says it has reached a milestone in home sales.
The agency says 40,000 home homes have been purchased in the state over the past 30 years under a program aimed at first-time homebuyers.
Director Jolene Kline says the agency assists North Dakotans in becoming homeowners by providing affordable mortgage loans, and down payment and closing cost assistance.
North Dakota’s Industrial Commission headed by Gov. Jack Dalrymple oversees the agency.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture says North Dakota received much needed rainfall across the state, with amounts from the past week ranging from a half inch in the eastern and western edges to 1.5 inches in the central region.
The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service says many farmers made progress planting small grains before the moisture, but wind and cooler temperatures in the north limited progress.
Three percent of the Durum wheat is planted, and 14 percent of spring wheat crop is planted. Barley planted is at 10 percent, oats is at 15 percent, corn is at 1 percent, canola is at 1 percent and dry peas are at 6 percent.
Topsoil moisture supplies are rated 5 percent very short, 18 percent short, 70 percent adequate, and 7 percent surplus.
WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota regulators are holding a public hearing in Watford City on a proposed oil pipeline in McKenzie County.
The North Dakota Public Service Commission says Sacagawea Pipeline Co. is seeking a permit for a 15-mile-long, 16-inch-diameter crude pipeline and associated facilities.
The $20 million Johnson’s Corner Connector Pipeline would have a capacity of 100,000 barrels per day, with a normal flow of 75,000 barrels.
The public hearing is 9 a.m. Central time Tuesday at Teddy’s Residential Suites in Watford City.

Valley City (CSi) Essentia Health was approved by the Valley City Public School District for a new contract to provide an Athletic Trainner.
That, after CHI Mercy Health ended their contract with the district in February this year.
Essentia and Sanford Health submitted bids and the school board accepted the Essentia Health bid of $20,000 a year for a 3 year period.
MLB-TWINS-GARDY…
The Minnesota Twins have hired former manager Ron Gardenhire as a special assistant to general manager Terry Ryan. His responsibilities include traveling to all minor league affiliates as an instructor and evaluator.
The Twins fired Gardenhire in 2014 after Minnesota finished that season 70-92. He spent 27 years in the Twins organization, including 13 years as manager.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – Miguel Sano and Byung Ho Park homered as the Minnesota Twins got a season-best 14 hits Monday night in a 7-4 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers that was shortened to six innings because of rain. Rain started to fall in the sixth and began downpouring as Milwaukee reliever Tyler Cravy struck out Oswaldo Arcia to end the inning. Play was stopped and the game was called after a delay of 2 hours, 6 minutes.

NEW YORK (AP) – San Antonio’s Kawhi (kuh-WY’) Leonard has been named the winner of the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year award for the second straight year.
Leonard beat out Draymond Green of the Warriors to become the first non-center to win the award in consecutive seasons since Dennis Rodman in 1989-90 and 1990-91.
The 6-foot-7 Leonard received 84 first-place votes and 547 points from a panel of 130 sports writers and broadcasters throughout the U.S. and Canada. Green was runner-up for the second straight year with 44 first-place votes and 421 points.
Miami center Hassan Whiteside was third with 83 points and two first-place votes.
NEW YORK (AP) – Los Angeles Clippers guard Jamal Crawford has won the Sixth Man Award, becoming the first three-time winner as the NBA’s best reserve.
Crawford received 51 first-place votes and 341 points Tuesday from a panel of 130 sports writers and broadcasters in the U.S. and Canada. NBA Finals MVP Andre Iguodala of Golden State was second with 288 points (33 first-place votes), and Oklahoma City’s Enes Kanter finished third with 182 points (19 first-place votes).
Crawford averaged 14.2 points in 79 games, coming off the bench in 74. He ranked second in the NBA in free throw percentage at 90.4 percent.
The 16-year veteran added this win to his awards in 2009-2010 with Atlanta and 2013-14 with the Clippers.
Kevin McHale, Ricky Pierce and Detlef Schrempf all won the Sixth Man Award twice. Crawford is the only player to win with multiple teams.
BOSTON MARATHON…
BOSTON (AP) – Ethiopians made a sweep of the Boston Marathon.
Lemi Berhanu Hayle won for the men and Atsede Baysa for the women. The 21-year-old Hayle pulled away from defending champion Lelisa Desisa late in the race to win by 47 seconds.
The victory completed Ethiopia’s first-ever sweep of the men’s and women’s races in Boston.
Zachary Hine of Dallas was the top U.S. man, finishing 10th. Colorado’s Neely Spence Gracey was the top American woman, coming in ninth.
Stephanie Jensen, of Jamestown, crossed the finish line in Boston after running 26.2 miles for the second time Monday.

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) – A car bombing along with an attack by armed militants in Afghanistan’s capital has killed at least 28 people and injured more than 300 during a prolonged gun battle. The Taliban is claiming responsibility. The government confirms the battle has now ended. The attack appears to have targeted an agency similar to the U.S. Secret Service, providing personal protection for high-ranking government officials.
WASHINGTON (AP) – Polls suggest Donald Trump will win today’s New York Republican presidential primary but for the billionaire businessman, the margin of victory is just as critical in determining whether Republicans are headed for a contested convention. For the Democrats, front-runner Hillary Clinton is also expected to defeat Bernie Sanders and her goal is to claim a big enough delegate haul to boost the idea that her nomination is inevitable.
HOUSTON (AP) – There’s already more than a foot of rain in Houston and the nation’s fourth-largest city is in for more of the same today. Meanwhile, the rain has inundated homes, shut down major highways and left at least five people dead. Flash flooding is nearly an annual occurrence and experts have long-warned of the potential for catastrophe in the near-sea-level city.
Undated (AP) – There’s been another strong aftershock to Japan’s twin earthquakes, and food shortages along with cuts to water service are plaguing the relief effort. At least 45 people have died. In Ecuador, rescuers say time is running out for any earthquake victims trapped in collapsed structures. That quake killed more than 400 people and the toll is expected to rise.
WASHINGTON (AP) – Interior Secretary Sally Jewell warns today that communities and public employees throughout the West are at risk from a rising “extreme movement” to seize public lands and reject the rule of law. In a speech to be delivered today to the National Geographic Society in Washington, Jewell points to the recent armed takeover of an Oregon national wildlife refuge as one example. She also says already dwindling public lands are in danger from development and climate change.
