Fatalcrash-cycleJamestown (Csi) The North Dakota Highway Patrol has officially identified the individuals involved in the accident, Wednesday afternoon about 2:45, that claimed the life of a Jamestown man.

The report says  a motorcycle operated by 58 year old Daniel Zimney of Jamestown  was rear-ended north of Jamestown, on U.S. Highway 52,  at mile marker 260.5.

The report says a 2006 Chevrolet Suburban driven by 38 year old Glen Nystrom of New Rockford and the 2008 Harley Davidson were both in the right southbound lane on the highway. The Suburban approached the slower motorcycle from the rear and rear-ended the Harley.

The collision caused the motorcycle to roll, and Zimney was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

Nystrom was not injured. The reports says he was wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation.

Daniel J. Zimney Sr., 58, Jamestown ND died Wednesday, May 11th, 2016 as the result of a motorcycle accident. Daniel Zimney Sr., was born on October 22, 1957 in Jamestown, ND to Paul (Bud) & G, Lorraine (Klose) Zimney Sr.

He served in the National Guard. He married Tammy Cartwright in 1986 and later divorced. Dan worked for Burlington Northern Railway for 25 years.

Daniels greatest joy was traveling to visit his grandchildren. He also enjoyed Photography, sketches with poems added to the side, glass blowing, metal detecting (he was a member of the MARG Metal Detecting Club), gardening & his imaginative canning and cooking, gold mining, salmon fishing, camping, riding bike, roller blading, 4-wheeler, working on his house and with his cattle. Daniel was adventurous and loved to travel, many family members would receive phone calls from “Danny” thinking he was home and he would be in Oregon or New York or at a Bison Game as he was one of their biggest supporters. Postcards he sent would also share his travels. His last adventure included driving to Nebraska, going to Oregon to see his daughter, and all of a sudden we get a phone call and he is in Hawaii visiting his other daughter, all done on the spur of the moment. He was a man of many talents!

Daniel is survived by his mother Gladys Lorraine Zimney, Jamestown, ND, a very special friend and soul mate Vicki Howell, Jamestown, ND, 2 daughters, Apphia (Gabe) Maranov and their children, Mello & Irie, Wolf Creek OR, Samantha (Brendan) Sampaga, and their children, Kaikane, Marley, & Zyla, Wahlawa, HI, Daniels 2 sons, Daniel Jr. & Joshua, Jamestown, ND, Seven Sisters, Betty (Alan) Wibstad, Montpelier, ND, Kathryn (Craig) Jorgenson, Pelican Rapids, MN, Toni (Jim) Tanata, Jamestown, ND, Bobbie (Lloyd) Landscoot, Cynthia (Jack) Clemens, Ronnie (Wayne) Mickelson, and Jenny Zimney all of Jamestown, ND, 3 brothers, David (Lori), Jamestown, ND, Daryl (Jean), Buchanan, ND, Paul Jr., Montpelier, ND. 5 Grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Paul T. Zimney Sr., a brother Douglas P. Zimney, his grandparents and one nephew Tucker Wibstad.

Funeral mass: 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 14 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, ND.

Visitation: 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Friday, May 13 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Prayer vigil: 7:00 PM, Friday, May 13 at St. James Basilica.

Burial: St. Pauline’s Cemetery, Windsor, ND.
