Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Rural Fire Department responded to reports of burning railroad ties near Eldridge at 7:36 p.m. Thursday.

JRFD Chief Ben Maulding says two ties were smouldering at separate locations at 74th Avenue, one was about a half mile and the other was one mile west of Eldridge. Ten firefighters in three pickups and a water rig were sent, but the water rig and two personnel returned to base early in the call

There was no damage to the tracks and rail traffic remained open.

The units on the scene about an hour.
