fostercourthousejailCARRINGTON, N.D. (AP) – Foster County is again seeking a state’s attorney after the lawyer serving in the post on a temporary basis resigned.
Ashley Lies of New Rockford says she can no longer continue serving in the position because she’s getting caught in the crossfire between supporters and opponents of former state’s attorney Paul Murphy.
Murphy stepped down in January. The County Commission says he was asked to resign because of bad legal advice, but Murphy says he quit due to a number of professional and personal reasons. Murphy recently announced he is again seeking election to the position.
Lies says she believes statements being made by both sides in recent letters to the editor and newspaper advertisements are inappropriate to some extent.
