Minot (CSi)  At Minot’s South Hill Softball Complex on Friday,  the Blue Jays defeated the host team Majettes 6-5 in the quarterfinals of the West Region softball tournament.

Then on Saturday, he Blue Jays defeated  second-seeded Bismarck Century 9-3 in the semifinals of the West Region tournament.

In the conference championship game, they  lost to top-seeded Dickinson 3-0. But the victory over the Patriots locked up the fifth-year varsity program’s second consecutive state appearance.

That means, the Blue Jays will be home to play in the Class A state softball tournament.

The Class A state softball tournament will begin Thursday at Jamestown’s Trapper Field. The Jays play Valley City at approximately 6:30 p.m., in the final game of the day, a rematch of last season’s state quarterfinal, which the Blue Jays won.
