Agnes Mary (Clarys) Samek, age 88 of Wimbledon, ND died Friday May 27, 2016 at ManorCare Nursing Home at Fargo, ND.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday June 2, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Wimbledon, ND with Rev. John Ejike celebrant.  Visitation will be from 5PM until 7PM Wednesday at St. Boniface Church with a Prayer Service beginning at 7PM.  Interment will be in St. Boniface Cemetery.

 

Agnes Mary (Clarys) Samek was born March 22, 1928 at Dickinson, ND the daughter of Cornelius Peter and Agnes Mary (Ridl) Clarys.  She grew up there and attended a local grade school and graduated from St. Mary’s High School.  She then attended Dickinson State College where she earned a teaching certificate and taught school for a time.  On Nov. 25, 1948 she married Laudie Samek at Dickinson.  The couple moved to Wimbledon, ND where they farmed.  Agnes did upholstery work out of her home and then opened the SilverNook Uphostery Shop in Wimbledon.  She also owned and operated the Wimbledon Café for many years.  Agnes was very involved in the community and was a member of the  St. Boniface Altar Society, the local homemakers club, was the CCD Director for St. Boniface Church for over 30 years, and sang in the church choir.  Laudie died in 2001 and she continued to make her home in Wimbledon.

 

Survivors include 3 daughters: “Bunny”(Jim) Sherry, Lacey, WA, Anne Marie (Geoff) Lloyd, Wimbledon, ND, and Shelene (Jim) Norwood, Little Falls, MN; a son James (Diane) Samek, Fargo, ND; a sister, Mary Jane Hunnicutt, Rintoul, IL; a brother Jim Clarys, Dickinson, ND; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 3 brothers, and 1 sister.
