SHEYENNE, N.D. (AP) – Fire has destroyed a grain elevator in Sheyenne.
The blaze at the Equity Co-op Elevator was reported about 9 p.m. Tuesday. Spokesman Fritz Wetzel says dust and grain fueled the fire.
About 50 firefighters from Sheyenne, Carrington and New Rockford battled the blaze but couldn’t save the structure.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately determined.
Due to the grain bin fire at Sheyenne, the NDDOT, and North Dakota Highway Patrol have temporarily closed U.S. Highway 281 from N.D. Highway 57 to just north of N.D. Highway 15 to all truck traffic.
All trucks 80,000 pounds or more must take an alternate route. Local traffic is being detoured on city streets
