Pipestem2Jamestown (CSi) In an effort to freshen the James River through Jamestown, and for mosquito control, residents will see a six inch increase in the river level, starting on Friday.

Pipestem Dam Manager, Bob Martin says the Pipestem Dam will make a release of 100 cfs on Friday only between 8-a.m., and 4-p.m., and then the release will be completely shut off.

He points out that Pipestem Reservoir is only four and a half feet above conservation pool. If the release remained at 100 cfs, the lake would be drawn down to conservation pool in 25 days, given current weather conditions.

At Jamestown Reservoir the 5 cfs release was stopped on Monday this week,

so after 4-p.m., Friday no releases will be made from either dam, for the foreseeable future, depending on rainfall amounts, and runoff that may occur.
