WASHINGTON (CSi) – Senator John Hoeven, who serves on the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration has awarded three grants totaling $449,766 to enhance airports in North Dakota. The funds are awarded as follows:
- Carrington Municipal Airport Authority – $208,800 – To fund the rehabilitation of the runway, the general aviation apron and Taxiway A as well as maintain the structural integrity of the pavement.
- Mandan Municipal Airport Authority – $182,756 – To fund the purchase of new snow removal equipment.
- Garrison Municipal Airport Authority – $58,210 – To fund the construction phase for crack sealing, replace the lighted wind cone and install a rotating beacon to enhance airport visual reference for pilots.
“Airports play a critical role in maintaining a high quality of life for North Dakotans and for supporting our state’s economic development,” Hoeven said. “Today’s grants will support a variety of airport rehabilitation projects that will help to ensure the safety and accessibility of the airports in Carrington, Mandan and Garrison.”
