Valley City (CSi)  Valley City Police Chief Fred Thompson has announced that Police Lt. David Swenson Friday morning  retired from the police Department.

In a news release, Chief Thompson said  Swenson submitted his official retirement paperwork.  The statement said, “The men and women of the VCPD wish Lt. Swenson-Retired, the best of luck in his future endeavors.”

Valley City (CSi) Valley City Police Chief Fred Thompson reports that Police Lt. David Swenson was placed on administrative leave with pay.

Thompson was told of the possibility of a serious violation of Valley City Police Department policy, and are of a “serious nature.”

Thompson says the internal investigation of these allegations has started, adding that no details of the investigation will be released while the internal investigation is in the process of being completed.

Swenson was cleared of other allegations stemming from a recent investigation.
Swenson will resign his position as the Community Service Officer in about two weeks.

Community Service board president Wanda Auka told the board during a special meeting on Friday July 15, 2016, that Swenson submitted his resignation.
