Jamestown (CSi) Repairs to the cut fiber were completed and phone services in Jamestown area restored about 8:45pm Thursday evening.
Previously reported at 10am Thursday:
Officials with Century Link are in the process of determining the extent of damage to an underground fiber cable that was cut around 10am Thurs morning.
A construction crew installing a fiber line appears to have cut the CenturyLink fiber near 27th Ave NE & 13th St NE (old #10) near the curve at the south end of the runway of Jamestown Regional Airport. This cut line has created a variety of local issues:
- CenturyLink customers can call other local CenturyLink#s
- CenturyLink customers can not call DCT customers.
- Cell to Cell works
- Cell to CenturyLink #s do not work
- DCT customers can not call CenturyLink customers
- Landline phones will experience long distance problems
Please standby while repairs are being made.
It appears that DCT customers can call other DCT local customers but are unable to call CenturyLink customers.
Normal long distance for CenturyLink has been disrupted.
Stutsman County Emergency Manager Jerry Bergquist says:
9-1-1 emergency calls work
and are being routed through State Radio and back to the LEC in Jamestown, and is accessible through cell phone and land lines, from any local exchange.
He added that communications between some phone service subscribers may or may not be available, including land line and cell phones.
Bergquist will have more information when available from Century Link officials.
Internet services for CSi Broadband are working normally.
