Valley City (CSi) Tuesday afternoon, July 26, in the midst of severe weather that tracked through North Dakota, at 2:40-p.m., the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Barnes County.
A tornado funnel was reported near Lake Ashtabula, which touched down in the rural area.
WDAY Chief Meterologist John Wheeler says it was a tornado and not a cold air funnel.
He beleives that the small twister had wind speeds of about 70 mph, and would have likely caused minor damage to structures if it had touched down in town.
