The Jamestown Arts Center’s sixth annual OKTOBERFEST is  Sat Sept 17.   Fun starts at 5:30 pm at the Stutsman County Fairgrounds Beer Garden.

Another fall season is quickly approaching not only with crisp air and beautiful weather, but also one of the season’s best celebrations, an occasion recognized the world over: OKTOBERFEST!

The Arts Center and is proud to welcome the Oktoberfest season with our Sixth Annual Oktoberfest: a celebration of beer, brats, and lederhosen.

Standard tickets are $30. OR get a $75 Oktoberfest Raffle ticket for entry into the event and a chance to win $4,000!  Tickets available at Cork & Barrel, The Arts Center, an Arts Center Board member and at the gate.

Oktoberfest is a great time of camaraderie, beer, music, Lederhosen, fun… Look for some great mouth-watering Oktoberfest food! Enjoy German style music, games, Wiener Dog Races and, of course, there is the beer. Ten different beers will be on tap with additional samplings of craft and home brews. As with all Oktoberfest celebrations around the world quaffing great beer, partying with wonderful, enthusiastic members of the community and celebrating life, German style is what it is all about.

The home base of all Oktoberfest celebrations takes place in Munich, Germany each year and spans 16 – 18 days running from late September to the first weekend in October. It is one of the most famous events in Germany and the world’s largest fair, with more than 5 million people attending every year. The Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture. Other cities across the world also hold Oktoberfest celebrations, modeled after the Munich event.

The Arts Center Oktoberfest celebration is a fundraising event organized by The Arts Center’s Board of Directors. All proceeds from this event go to support programming at The Arts Center.

On a recent Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Arts Center Director Cyndi Wish added, At the Hansen Arts Park, in downtown Jamestown, a public demonstrations will be held Monday, September 19th at 12:00 pm and 5:30 pm. The community is invited to to stop by, watch sculptor, Owen Fritts, work on the “Prairie Grass Ballet,” and ask questions, and learn about the process that goes into creating a sculpture.

Cyndi added that on September 23, 30, and October 1 at 7:30-p.m. the Arts Center presents Manhattan Short, the only film festival that unfolds simultaneously in cinemas around the world, bringing over 100,000 film-lovers across six continents together for one week, to view the work of 10 fantastic filmmakers.

Which of these 10 short films is the best? That’s up to a worldwide audience to decide. Cinema-goers across the United States and around the globe will become instant film critics as they are handed a ballot upon entry that allows them to vote for the Best Short Film and Best Actor. The world’s directors and actors anxiously await your decision!
