JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP-CSi) — Bond was set Thursday afternoon,  in Southeast District Court in Jamestown at $250,000 for  registered high-risk sex offender, 59 year old Walter Grant, Jr., of Jamestown accused of invading a Southwest Jamestown apartment and sexually assaulting a woman inside.

In addition, Grant was ordered not to have a weapon in his possession , and not to have contact with the victim and not leave the state.

Grant’s court appearance, was set for 2:30-p.m. Thursday,  but was delayed until 4:30-p.m., because he was uncooperative with the judge Jerod  Tufte .

His next court appearance has not be set.

Grant, Jr. is charged with gross sexual imposition, burglary, aggravated assault, terrorizing and felonious restraint in the alleged incident.

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP-CSi) — A registered high-risk sex offender accused of invading a Jamestown home and sexually assaulting a woman inside is facing five felonies.

Fifty-nine-year-old Walter Grant Jr. is charged with gross sexual imposition, burglary, aggravated assault, terrorizing and felonious restraint in the alleged incident early Tuesday.

Grant could face up to 45 years in prison if convicted on all of the charges. Court documents do not list an attorney for him. He was scheduled to make an initial court appearance on Thursday afternoon.

He’s being held at the Stutsman County Jail.

The complaint alleges that Grant engaged in a sexual act with the victim in her Jamestown apartment against her will by threat of imminent death, serious bodily injury or kidnapping.

Grant was wanted for questioning in regard to an alleged home invasion and alleged sexual assault of a female at a Southwest Jamestown residence at about 6:12 a.m. Tuesday

Following a search by law enforcement   Grant, was apprehended about 10:12 a.m., in the area west of West End Hide and Fur on a hillside area, by the stockyards Northwest  of Jamestown.

Jamestown (CSi) Law enforcement has captured the suspect wanted in conjunction with the alleged home invasion and sexual assault this morning in Jamestown.  Walter Grant, Jr. was apprehended about 10:12 a.m., in the area west of West End Hide and Fur on a hillside area, by the stockyards Northwest  of Jamestown.

 

Grant was spotted by an employee of the business, who then called police.

Reports from the scene indicate he was bitten by the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office, K-9 Unit, and an ambulance was sent to the scene of the capture, for medical assistance, and was transported to Jamestown Regional Medical Center for treatment. He has been remanded to the Stutsman County jail, awaiting formal charges. The case is still under investigation.

 

Grant was wanted for GrantWalterJrquestioning in regard to an alleged home invasion and alleged sexual assault of a female at a Southwest Jamestown residence at about 6:12 a.m. Tuesday.

During the incident the female victim was able to break away and call  9-1-1.

He was also wanted for questioning concerning possible multiple sex offender registry violations.

Grant is a registered high-risk sex offender with convictions in Rolette County in 2012 and Burleigh County in 1989. He also has a federal conviction for abusive sexual conduct in 2005.

Jamestown  (CSi) The Jamestown Police Department this morning is  looking for a male suspect after a reported home invasion early Tuesday morning.

Police report that Walter Grant, Jr. is wanted in a home invasion incident that occurred about 6:15 a.m. and allegedly  sexually assaulted a female victim.

The female broke free  and called 9-1-1. The male fled the residence and his current location is unknown.

Walter Grant Jr. is a registered high-risk sex offender and is wanted for questioning regarding this incident and other possible multiple sex offender registry violations.

It’s unknown if Grant is in possession of any weapons at this time.

Grant Jr. is described as a Native American Male, 5-feet seven inches tall, weighing 204 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Grant has not listed any access to vehicles, but could be driving a white Ford F-150. More information will be posted once it becomes available.
