GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) â An Oklahoma man found dead in January in a vehicle parked on the University of North Dakota campus died of a drug overdose.
Police say an autopsy concluded that 19-year-old Braden Robertson, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, died from a mixture of methadone and an anxiety medicine.
Robertson was not a student at the university. He was in Grand Forks visiting family.
No foul play is suspected in the death, but authorities are investigating the source of the drugs that killed Robertson.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A Williston man accused of stealing explosives from companies operating in the North Dakota oil patch faces up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty.
Tyler Porter was arrested in May and charged in federal court with five felonies that together carried a maximum punishment of 40 years in prison. He reached a plea deal with prosecutors and on Wednesday pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and theft of explosive materials.
Porter is to be sentenced Dec. 12.
Authorities say Porter stole more than 200 explosives by using a cutting torch to open padlocked bunkers. They also allege he had books in his home on how to build explosives, along with prohibited guns and more than 1,100 rounds of ammunition.
UNDATED (AP) — A North Dakota judge has issued a warrant for the arrest of Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein, who is accused of spray-painting construction equipment during a protest against the Dakota Access pipeline. Stein was charged Wednesday in Morton County with misdemeanor counts of criminal trespass and criminal mischief. A spokeswoman for Stein said Tuesday she sprayed “I approve this message” in red paint on the blade of a bulldozer.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota authorities are sending officers from across the state to the site of a protest in anticipation of a federal judge’s ruling on a request by the Standing Rock Sioux to block construction of a four-state oil pipeline.
U.S. District Judge James Boasberg is expected to rule Friday on the tribe’s request to temporarily stop construction on the Dakota Access pipeline.
The Morton County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday in a statement that it’s “preparing and planning for all scenarios that may occur in response to the federal court ruling.” The statement didn’t say how many officers were being added.
No law enforcement personnel were present Saturday when violence broke out between private security guards and protesters. Authorities say the crowd dispersed when officers arrived and no one was arrested.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Miguel Sano’s hustle led Minnesota to a pair of early runs and his RBI double tied the game in the decisive seventh inning, helping the Twins dodge a series sweep by beating the Kansas City Royals 6-5 on Wednesday night.
Brian Dozier didn’t hit a home run for Minnesota, ending his club-tying record at five straight games, but he singled and stole second before scoring on Sano’s double off Joakim Soria (4-8). Dozier also started a dazzling double play to finish the fifth inning, with a diving stop of Eric Hosmer’s grounder and a glove flick to second base to get the ball out while he was flat on the dirt.
Alex Wimmers (1-0) pitched a scoreless seventh in relief of Kyle Gibson to record his first major league victory. Brandon Kintzler gave up Jarrod Dyson’s two-out RBI single before finishing the ninth inning for his 14th save in 16 attempts.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Zimmer says he will not announce a starting quarterback until just before Sunday’s season opener at Tennessee.
Zimmer will decide between veteran Shaun Hill and Sam Bradford, who was acquired in a trade with Philadelphia on Saturday. The Vikings gave the Eagles a first-round draft pick and a conditional fourth-round pick to get Bradford after starter Teddy Bridgewater suffered a major knee injury in practice last week.
Bradford says he feels much more comfortable with the playbook and his teammates than he did when he first arrived on Saturday.
Titans coach Mike Mularkey says the team is preparing as if Bradford will be the starter. He says “you don’t give up a 1 and a 4 to have a guy sit very long.”
NFL-SAINTS…
UNDATED (AP) — Drew Brees (breez) will remain with the New Orleans Saints for at least two more seasons.
Brees and the team have worked out a five-year package that includes three voidable years. A person familiar with the deal tells The Associated Press it guarantees the record-setting QB $44.3 million the next two years.
The contract includes a $30 million bonus that can be prorated over that two-year period, significantly reducing Brees’ cap hit on the team from $30 million to around $17 for this season.
Brees owns Saints franchise records in virtually every passing category, having thrown for 48,555 yards and 348 touchdowns in 10 seasons with the club. He was named Super Bowl MVP after leading the 2009 Saints to their only NFL championship.
HOCKEY PLAYER-INJURED…
GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. (AP) — A hockey player from Minnesota who was paralyzed from the chest down during a game in Illinois is home with his family.
In a statement released by Allina Health, the family of Matt Olson says he was discharged Wednesday from the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute in Golden Valley and moved back home with his family in Isanti (eye-SAN’-tee).
His family says Olson “is excited to be back home and is looking forward to this next chapter in his life.”
Olson, a junior league defenseman with the Chicago Cougars, suffered a spinal cord injury when he slammed into the boards during a February game at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates.
Olson also received care in Illinois and at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He will continue outpatient therapy.
U.S. OPEN…
NEW YORK (AP) — Top-ranked Serena Williams is now two match victories away from winning another the U.S. Open title.
Williams has reached the U.S. Open women’s semifinals with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 triumph over fifth seed Simona Halep (HA’-lehp). Williams totaled 18 aces and surged to victory after going 0 for 12 on break points in the second set.
Halep was the first player to break Williams’ serve in the tournament and the first to take a set off the No. 1 seed
Williams is bidding for her seventh title at Flushing Meadows and 23rd overall at a major tournament, which both would be records for the Open era, which dates to 1968.
Next up for Williams is a match against Karolina Pliskova on Thursday. The 10th-seeded Pliskova advanced with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Ana Kohnjuh (KAHN’-yuh) in just 57 minutes. Pliskova lost just one point on serve in the first set and never faced a break point in reaching a Grand Slam semifinal for the first time.
Pliskova entered the tournament as the only woman currently ranked in the top 20 never to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam event.
Tonight’s Williams-Pliskova match will be followed by second seed Angelique Kerber against Caroline Wozniacki (wohz-nee-AK’-ee).
Andy Murray’s quarterfinal match against Kei Nishikori (kay nee-shee-KOHR’-ee) turned on an errant sound from the stadium.
The U.S. Tennis Association says a digital audio sound processor at court level malfunctioned during the match, creating a let call by the chair umpire. Upset by the decision to replay the point, the second-seeded Murray immediately lost 12 of 14 points seven games in a row to drop that set 6-1 and trail 2-0 in the fifth. The meltdown helped the sixth-seeded Nishikori rally for a 1-6, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 victory.
The noise occurred with Murray already up two sets to one and holding a second break point at 1-all in the fourth.
Murray broke back and led 5-4 in the fifth set before Nishikori took the final three games.
The action concluded with third seed Stan Wawrinka’s (vah-VRIHN’-kahz) 7-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 quarterfinal victory over Juan Martin del Potro (wahn mahr-TEEN’ dehl POH’-troh). That sets up a Friday semifinal pitting Wawrinka against Nishikori.
NASCAR…

Newman was penalized for failing post-race inspection at Darlington Raceway on Sunday night.
That drops him 22 points back of Jamie McMurray for the 16th and final spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup playoff heading into Saturday night’s race at Richmond.
