Jamestown (CSi) A Red Cross, Buffalo Valley Chapter in Jamestown volunteer, Dave Smette of Jamestown is heading to Florida to assist those in need, as Hurricane Matthew batters the state.
Dave Smette will be in Tallahassee, in the Red Cross’ relief effort.
He’s expected to be there for two weeks.
He’s traveling the 1600 miles with another Red Cross volunteer from Minnesota using their trucks to distribute food.
In 2012 Smette was deployed to the east coast as Hurricane, and then Super Storm Sandy struck there.
Hurricane Matthew is expected to hit the U.S. southeast coastal area with a “Sandy-Like” surge.
