reneharoldHarold J. Rene, 75, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Friday afternoon, October 21, 2016 at his home under the care of hospice.

Harold was born in Cavalier, ND on August 8, 1941, the son of William F. and Lois (Wyman) Rene. He attended elementary and high school in Pembina and graduated in 1959. Harold married Karen A. Barron at Pembina Lutheran Church on July 13, 1963. He then graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. They lived in Pembina, Grand Forks, and Jamestown.

He worked for the US Treasury as an Internal Revenue Agent from 1967 until 1973. He started his own accounting firm, Rene Accounting, in October, 1973. In December of 2008, he sold his business, but continued tax work there until 2013. From 2013-2016, he worked with Brian Chandler CPA during tax season. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Elks Club, Jamestown Country Club, Ducks Unlimited and National and North Dakota Society of Accountants.

Harold had many hobbies including golf, hunting, fishing, watching UND Fighting Sioux hockey, Green Bay Packers football, and all of his grandchildren’s activities. Throughout the years, Harold enjoyed his morning coffee time with friends. Harold was always a kind, considerate, and patient person that saw the best in people. He had a very strong faith and a deep love for family and friends.

Harold is survived by his wife, Karen; sons, Michael (Dawn) and grandsons Austin, Connor, and Zach, Jamestown, and Dr. Thomas (Teresa) and their children Erica, Evan, Jeromy, Fargo; and Katie (Devin) Massopust, St Louis Park, MN; mother, Lois Rene, Shakopee, MN; brother, Dr. Gary (Jackie) Rene, Savage, MN; brother-in-law, Jon (Jeanne) Barron, New Brighton, MN; sisters-in-law, Diane Barron, Pearland, TX, and Barbara Barron, Henderson, CO; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, William Rene; father-in-law, Franklyn Barron; mothers-in-law. June Barron and Ruth Barron; brothers-in-law, Arthur (Judy) Barron, James Barron, and Allyn Barron.

Visitation – 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Williams Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Prayer Service – 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Interment – Pembina Cemetery, Pembina, ND
