Dorothy White, 89, of Jamestown, ND, died Wednesday afternoon, November 30, 2016, at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Dorothy was born on May 16, 1927, in Carrington, ND. She grew up there and graduated from Carrington High School. On August 2, 1948, Dorothy married Glyndon White. On August 2nd of this year they celebrated 68 years together. Both of them were so proud of this long life together and their ever growing family. Dorothy was the mom to 4 children, Kathy Lee, Devils Lake, ND; Linda Isakson, Bismarck, ND, Patty Deery, Fargo, ND, and Robert White, Billings, MT. She had 12 grandchildren, often joking about the fact that only 1 was a girl. She also had 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She never forgot to send each of them a card for their birthday.

Dorothy and Glyn moved to Jamestown in 1950 where Glyn taught school for many years. She was a stay-at-home mom until all her children were in school and then worked at Easter Seals, JC Penny and Puffy’s Jewelry. Dorothy was famous around town for her love of golf. She was a familiar face at Hillcrest Golf Course and took great pride in being the first golfer on the course for the last 25 years. She also enjoyed bingo and weekend trips to the casino with her daughters. Dorothy believed in staying fit and could be seen on the walking paths around the Heritage Centre whenever the weather was warm.

Dorothy’s family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Heritage Centre and Ave Maria Village for the care and friendship they provided. Dorothy felt truly loved and at home during her last 3 years at the Centre.
