A Travel Alert is in effect for areas west of Bismarck, Jamestown, Valley City, Minot, Devils Lake and Grand Forks due to icy roads, visibility reduced down to 500 ft at times, and scattered snow drifts. White out conditions reportedĀ  Wednesday afternoon inĀ  open country with wind gusts of 40 mph continue to blow snow across the road surface in the region.

 

Wednesday evening…

Highway 52 is blocked from Carrington to Velva due to vehicles becoming stuck and
stranded on the roadway blocking traffic. DOT services may not be available if you
become stranded in this area. Due to high amounts of backed up traffic, there is no
parking available in communities surrounding this route. As a reminder this area is
in a No Travel Advisory and motorists in this area should not travel.

Motorists should slow down and drive according to conditions as there are still many
areas in the state with severe snow drifts blocking roads and areas of low
visibility. Poor visibility continues to affect highways in North Dakota. Be
prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions

Motorists are encouraged to reduce speeds and drive according to the conditions.
