The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports, a 2005 Pontiac Bonneville, operated by 58 year old Gregory Rasmussen of Valley City was westbound about 7:50-a.m., when he failed to maintain control of the vehicle on the ice-covered roadway.

The car slid across the westbound lane, entered the median, and overturned.

Rasmussen was transported by Jamestown Area Ambulance Service, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

He was wearing a seat belt.

Rasmussen was charged with care required.

City Fire Chief Jim Reuther says the fire department cut the top off the car and extricated Rasmussen, with 10 firefighters and two units on the scene.

The Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene, with first aid and traffic control.

Jamestown  (CSi)  The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports a 20 year-old Mandan woman was injured after the vehicle she was driving  struck a semi trailer on I-94 about 12:30-p.m., Monday, about  five miles west of Jamestown.

Taylor Jung was approaching a semi in her 2010 Chevrolet Colbalt when she steered left to avoid a collision and skidded out of control and struck the left side of the semi trailer.

Jung was transported to the Jamestown Regional Medical Center, by Jamestown area Ambulance Service, for treatment of her injuries. Her condition was not released.

The driver of the semi 18 year-old Boe Delabarre of Bismarck was not injured in the crash which remains under investigation.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

The Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

Jamestown (CSi)  The goal to raise $50,000 toward the preservation of White Cloud is closer, with a $30,000 gift from Dave and JoAnn Vining of Jamestown.

The  albino buffalo died November 14, 2016 at the Shirek Buffalo Ranch, after spending 19 years at the National Buffalo Museum’s herd, in Jamestown, and plans were made by the National Buffalo Museum’s  board  to have her preserved and displayed at the National Buffalo Museum in Jamestown.

The Musuem’s Director Ilana Xinos says, the display will give museum visitors a more historical, cultural and scientific significance of albino bison.

White Cloud will be displayed in a humidity controlled enclosure  at the museum.

Those wishing to making a donation, may contact the National Buffalo Museum in Jamestown.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota’s three Republican presidential electors have cast their support for Donald Trump. Some Trump opponents have responded to his victory with a move to persuade Electoral College voters to break with the results in their state.

That did not happen in North Dakota, where Trump was an easy winner over Hillary Clinton.

North Dakota has three of the 538 votes in the Electoral College, which elects the president and vice president of the United States.

North Dakota’s electors are John Olson of Bismarck, Bev Clayburgh of Grand Forks and Duane Mutch of Larimore.

Since North Dakota became a state in 1889, Republican candidates have swept its electoral votes in all but six presidential elections. No Democrat has carried the state since Lyndon B. Johnson did so in 1964.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A lawsuit from two Sioux tribes seeking to stop the Dakota Access oil pipeline is on hold while a separate but related court battle over the project plays out.

Pipeline developer Energy Transfer Partners is asking Judge James Boasberg to rule that it has federal permission to lay pipe under the Missouri River in North Dakota — the last remaining big chunk of construction for the $3.8 billion project.

The Army says more study is needed in light of concerns of the Standing Rock Sioux. The tribe says the pipeline imperils drinking water.

The Standing Rock and Cheyenne River tribes are challenging pipeline permits at numerous water crossings. Boasberg on Friday agreed to set aside that dispute while the fight between Energy Transfer Partners and the Army is resolved.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — An Army veteran who died without knowing he won the nation’s highest medal of bravery is getting the honor he’s been owed for nearly 140 years.

Nevada Rep. Mark Amodei held a ceremony Monday morning in Reno to present the Medal of Honor to the grandson of Private Robert Smith.

Then-President Rutherford B. Hayes had approved the award for Smith in 1877 for his bravery during a battle the year earlier against American Indian tribes in the Dakota Territory.

Smith’s true name was Harry Reynolds, and he returned to using that name after his discharge.

The veteran moved to Elko, where he died in 1930 without knowing he won the medal.

A military group informed Smith’s grandson about the never-presented award in 2011. Amodei’s office helped secure a new medal.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The first trial of people charged in protests of the Dakota Access pipeline has been postponed.

Ten people charged with disorderly conduct during the protests were scheduled for a joint misdemeanor trial Monday. But after prospective jurors were convened, it was announced shortly before 11 a.m. that the trial would be postponed.

The defendants were arrested Aug. 11 after they allegedly pushed through law enforcement lines or police tape to access a construction site.

Ross Munns, assistant court administrator for the region, says 65 potential jurors were called to fill the six-person jury.

The defendants are from nine states, including North Dakota, South Dakota, Oregon and Hawaii.

The Morton County Sheriff’s Department says more than 570 people have been arrested in connection with the protests.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A massive oil spill in northwestern North Dakota still isn’t fully cleaned up three years and three months after it happened.

The company responsible hasn’t even set a date for completion.

Crews have been working around the clock to deal with the Tesoro Corp. pipeline break, which happened in a wheat field in September 2013.

But North Dakota Health Department environmental scientist Bill Suess said that less than a third of the 840,000 gallons that spilled has been recovered — or ever will be.

Some say that one of the largest onshore oil spills recorded in the U.S. serves as a cautionary example, especially given a recent pipeline break about 150 miles south and ongoing debates over the four-state Dakota Access pipeline.

NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE

LANDOVER, Md. (AP) — For one night the Carolina Panthers played like they did last season when they were NFC champions and went to the Super Bowl. Just ask the Washington Redskins.

The Panthers have thrown a huge monkey wrench into the Redskins’ playoff hopes. Cam Newton passed for 300 yards and a pair of TD passes as Carolina upset Washington 26-15 in the Monday Night Football game.

Washington fell to 7-6-1 in the jumbled NFC wild-card picture. Dallas and the New York Giants are ahead of the Redskins in the NFC East, and the Redskins no longer control their own destiny.

Even though the 6-8 Panthers were out of playoff contention, the defending NFC champions gave one of their best performances of the year in beating the Redskins on their own home field.

The Panthers won despite not having Pro Bowl linebacker Luke Kuechly (KEEK’-lee). He had practiced all week after being cleared from the league’s concussion protocol, but was kept on the sidelines as a precaution.

Meanwhile, the Redskins Monday night jinx at home continued. The Redskins have lost 16 of their last 17 Monday night games at home.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL-MIAMI BEACH BOWL

MIAMI (AP) — Dane Evans and Tulsa put up huge numbers all season, and did it again at the Miami Beach Bowl.

Evans passed for 304 yards and five touchdowns in his final college game, three of those TDs to Keevan Lucas as Tulsa rolled past Central Michigan 55-10 at Marlins Park.

Evans completed 28 of 38 passes for the 10-3 Golden Hurricane, who finished with six wins in the season’s final seven games.

Central Michigan has been to bowls the last three seasons and is 0-3 in them.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Two Twitter users have admitted they started a false rumor that the Minnesota Vikings were opening their new stadium to the homeless during this weekend’s extreme cold.

Marketer Jake Nyberg and fitness coach David Dellanave (del’-lah-NAH’-vay) say their tweets were a hoax meant to push the idea that taxpayer-funded U.S. Bank Stadium could be used to keep the homeless warm. Dellanave told The Associated Press it was a stupid way to do it and he’s sorry. Nyberg has since deactivated his account and didn’t immediately return messages from the AP.

Yahoo Sports and CBS Sports posted stories that assumed the tweets were true.

But it appears no homeless people fell for the hoax. The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority says nobody sought shelter at the stadium.

NFL-JAGUARS-COACH…

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have named Doug Marrone (muh-ROHN’) interim coach for the final two games of the season.

General manager Dave Caldwell made the announcement a day after owner Shad Khan fired coach Gus Bradley.

Marrone served as Jacksonville’s assistant head coach/offensive line coach the past two seasons. Before that, he was Buffalo’s head coach for two seasons where he went 15-17 with the Bills.

Bradley was fired following the team’s ninth consecutive loss Sunday that drop the Jaguars to 2-12.

T25 FOOTBALL-NEWS…

UNDATED (AP) — Florida State football coach Jimbo Fisher has signed a two-year contract extension, which will carry him through the 2024 season. Fisher will earn an annual salary of at least $5.5 million beginning next season.

Fisher is in his seventh season at Florida State and has a 77-17 record, including leading the school to the 2013 BCS national championship. The 10th-ranked Seminoles are in a New Year’s Six bowl for the fifth straight season and will take on No. 6 Michigan in the Orange Bowl on Dec. 30.

MLB-PIRATES…

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pirates bolstered their bullpen by agreeing to an $11 million, two-year contract with reliever Daniel Hudson.

The 29-year-old Hudson will make $5.5 million in both 2017 and 2018. The contract includes $1.5 million annually in performance bonuses based on games finished starting at 30 and ending at 60. Hudson went 3-2 with a 5.22 ERA in 70 appearances for the Diamondbacks in 2016.

In world and national news…

BERLIN (AP) — Germany’s top security official says a suspect arrested after the truck attack in Berlin “comes from Pakistan” and had applied for asylum. Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere says that so far, authorities have no knowledge of a claim of responsibility from the Islamic State group. Among the 12 dead was a Polish citizen found on the passenger seat of the truck with a gunshot wound.

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Russian investigators are working to determine whether the assassination of their country’s ambassador to Turkey was the work of a lone gunman or part of a wider conspiracy. The two nations, which have backed opposing sides in the Syrian war, say they won’t let the killing disrupt efforts to repair their relationship. The ambassador’s assailant died in a shootout with police.

PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Jumping ahead of investigators, President-elect Donald Trump is blaming Islamic terrorism for the deadly violence in Turkey and Germany and vowing anew to eradicate their regional and global networks. Trump’s transition team did not respond to requests to cite the sources for his claims of terrorist involvement. Trump’s statements came at the end of a day in which he was formally elected president by the Electoral College.

WASHINGTON (AP) — First lady Michelle Obama admits this past election was “painful.” But in an interview with Oprah Winfrey that aired on CBS, Mrs. Obama says she and the president are supporting Donald Trump’s transition because “it is important for the health of this nation that we support the commander-in-chief.” As for her own political future, Mrs. Obama says she won’t run for public office.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina lawmakers appear poised to repeal a controversial law widely derided as the “bathroom bill.” The law requires transgender people to use restrooms corresponding with the sex on their birth certificate in many public buildings. As part of the deal, the Charlotte City Council has voted to repeal the local nondiscrimination ordinance that first prompted legislators to pass the state law.
