Jamestown  (CSi)  Jamestown Regional Airport Authority Chairman Jim Boyd has outlined airport changes in 2016.

He says a used Jetway passenger-boarding bridge purchased from Minot International Airport is now being utilized for most flights.

The structure gives shelter for passengers from the terminal and the UnitedExpress/SkyWest flights.

The secured seating area is nearly completed with 50 seats, for the commercial flights.

Boyd points out that  the Airport Authority’s is planning an open house in the spring to allow the public to view the recent improvements.

The person wielding the gun also pulled a fire alarm inside of the apartment building.

Officers arrived at the building around 10:10 PM.

They found a man inside with several firearms.

Police were able to get him outside of the building without the guns.

He was detained around 10:30 PM.

He was then brought to Sanford for a mental Health Evaluation.

Fire fighters cleared the building before leaving the scene.

No one was hurt.

The man has not been identified.

Bismarck   (CSi) North Dakota Game and Fish Department law enforcement officers are searching for information related to the likely illegal possession and taking of a mule deer buck and an antlerless whitetail pictured recently on social media at a location that appears to be in or near the pipeline protest camp in southern Morton County.

Anyone with information should contact the Game and Fish enforcement office in Bismarck at 701-328-6604.

MINOT, N.D. (AP) — A Minot motorcycle club has been charged with selling alcohol without a license.

Authorities say they found a full bar and a cash register when they searched the Ice Cold Ryders Motorcycle Club earlier this month. The complaint says the club doesn’t have a license from the state or city.

Club President Lashone Brown has said the money received by the club was donated.

The club made a court appearance Wednesday. The judge granted a defense request to postpone the case so it could continue gathering evidence and file more motions.

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Federal regulators have outlined corrective steps that must take place before a company may restart a pipeline that leaked 176,000 gallons of oil into and along a creek in western North Dakota.

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration issued the order Tuesday to Belle Fourche (foosh) Pipeline Co.

Company spokeswoman Wendy Owen says the order is under review.

A landowner spotted the spill Dec. 5, after the company’s monitoring equipment failed to detect the rupture.

The company says erosion of a hillside might have ruptured the pipe, but the cause is still being investigated. A precise location of the break is unknown.

The federal agency’s order requires the company to excavate the pipeline in the area of the break, including where it’s placed 45 feet below the creek bed.

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota employment experts predict demands for oil field workers will only become more intense in 2017.

Cindy Sanford at the Job Service North Dakota office in Williston says the largest uptick is for hydraulic fracturing crews, which average between 45 and 65 people per crew.

Sanford says recruiters from two large oil field services companies, Schlumberger and Oil States, stopped by the Job Service office this week.

The Williston Herald says the state’s core oil-producing counties, including Williams, McKenzie, Divide and Mountrail, have about 1,300 job openings across all sectors.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem is going to court to block the Obama administration’s final rules designed to reduce the environmental impact of coal mining on streams.

Stenehjem filed the lawsuit Tuesday with the state Public Service Commission. He calls the new rule “the epitome of a midnight regulation,” and says the case involves “a last-ditch effort by the outgoing Administration to encroach on the clear authority” granted to North Dakota and the PSC.

North Dakota contends the new rule places onerous restrictions on surface coal mining and reclamation, and violates federal law and the U.S. Constitution.

The Interior Department says the rule will protect 6,000 miles of streams, preventing debris from coal mining from being dumped into nearby waters.

Republicans vow to overturn it under President Donald Trump.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL-NORTH DAKOTA-IOWA

McCaffrey apologizes

A spokesman at Iowa says basketball coach Fran McCaffery has apologized for not shaking hands following the team’s win over North Dakota Tuesday.

McCaffery walked off the court and waved for his team to follow him to the locker room because he was upset with the chippy play of the Fighting Hawks late in the game.

The spokesman told The Associated Press in an email on Wednesday that, while McCaffery has apologized to head coach Brian Jones and his team, he stands by his concerns.

Peterson…

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson did not practice on Wednesday and his outlook for the game against Green Bay on Saturday is in question.

Peterson says he had “a couple of nicks” that he was getting treatment for after playing his first game in three months on Sunday.

Peterson played 12 snaps in his return from surgery on a torn meniscus in his right knee, but the Vikings lost to the Colts, 34-6.

Peterson says he is taking things “day by day”, but would not speculate if he would be ready to play against the Packers.

Before he returned against the Colts, Peterson said he would likely not play if the Vikings were eliminated from playoff contention.

The Vikings (7-7) have not been officially eliminated, but are far down the list of NFC teams jockeying for a berth.

TWINS-COACHES

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins have hired Jeff Smith as first base coach.

Smith replaces Butch Davis, who was not offered a new contract. The Twins also announced Wednesday that Jeff Pickler will serve as the team’s major league coach and coordinator of major league development.

Smith has managed or coached at various levels in the Twins minor league system for the last 12 seasons, spending the last two as manager at Single-A Fort Myers. He played nine seasons of minor league baseball with the Minnesota, Texas and Boston organizations.

Pickler spent the last two seasons as special assistant for player development for the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. He played in 904 career minor league games in the Milwaukee, Texas and Colorado organizations.

MLS OPENERS…

NEW YORK (AP) — Minnesota United will play its Major League Soccer opener at Portland on March 3 in the first match of the 2017 season, and Atlanta United will make its debut two days later at home against the New York Red Bulls.

Minnesota plays its first home game March 12 against Atlanta in a matchup of the two expansion teams, which raise the league’s total to 22.

The league said Wednesday that 14 teams open March 4. New England is at Colorado, Chicago at Columbus, Kansas City at D.C. United, defending champion Seattle at Houston, Dallas at Los Angeles, Toronto at Salt Lake and Montreal at San Jose.

Completing the opening weekend on March 5, New York City is at Orlando in the MLS opener of the team’s new stadium and Philadelphia is at Vancouver.

NBA..

UNDATED (AP) — NBA owners have unanimously approved a proposed seven-year collective bargaining agreement that was tentatively agreed to last week. Two people with direct knowledge of the situation have told The Associated Press that players are expected to finish casting their ballots in the coming days. Once it’s ratified by the players, either side will have the ability to opt out after the 2022-23 season, though the deal will technically extend through 2023-24.

CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Cavaliers haven’t set a timeline for the return of J.R. Smith after the starting guard broke his right thumb in Tuesday’s win at Milwaukee. Injuries like Smith’s typically require at least one month of recovery time, but his return date won’t be determined until after he undergoes surgery. The Cavs also plan to play at least one more game without starter Kevin Love because of a bruised knee.

In world and national news…

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — There’s a lot of finger-pointing going on in North Carolina, where a supposedly bipartisan deal to repeal the state’s anti-LGBT law fell apart. After more than nine hours of private and public talks, state legislators quit trying to revoke House Bill 2 and went home. The law became known as the “bathroom bill” because it limited transgenders to public restrooms that lined up with their sex at birth.

BERLIN (AP) — German media are reporting that the fingerprints of Tunisian suspect Anis Amri have been found on the truck that was driven into a Christmas market in Berlin. The hunt continues for Amri. Nearly three days after the deadly attack that killed 12 people and injured 48 others, the market in the center of the German capital has reopened, with concrete blocks in place to provide extra security.

BEIRUT (AP) — Syrian President Bashar Assad is claiming victory in the northern city of Aleppo, saying it’s not only for Syria but for all countries fighting terrorism, especially Russia and Iran. Those two countries have been Assad’s strongest backers since the civil war began in 2011. Syrian rebels are withdrawing from Aleppo as part of a Russian-Turkish deal that would bring the city under Assad’s control.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Ikea, the leading Swedish home furnishings retailer, says “a tentative settlement” has been reached in the case involving three families in the United States whose children died after Ikea chests and dressers tipped over. The separate accidents took place in 2014 and 2016. The settlement reportedly totals $50 million.

MADRID (AP) — Celebrations are guaranteed in Madrid. That’s where all the tickets bearing the top prize number in Spain’s $2.4 billion Christmas lottery were sold. The number appeared on 1,650 tickets in the lottery known as El Gordo, or “The Fat One,” with each holder winning more than $400,000.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A woman who died of cancer just days before her appearance on “Jeopardy!” aired won six contests in a row and more than $103,000, some of which she donated to cancer research.

Cindy Stowell’s run ended when she finished second in her seventh appearance that aired Wednesday. The 41-year-old Texas woman taped the episodes in August and September while battling Stage 4 colon cancer. She died Dec. 5.

“Jeopardy!” says Stowell was sent advance copies of her first three episodes and watched them in the hospital. The show says it also expedited Stowell her prize money. The Cancer Research Institute says Stowell donated some of the winnings to the nonprofit.

Stowell says in a video shared by “Jeopardy!” the show was a good opportunity to help others.
