Carrington  (CSi)    Three children died in a mobile home fire in Carrington early Saturday morning, February  25, 2017.

Three others survived the fire and were taken to the local hospital.  Carrington Fire Chief Ken Wangen says volunteer firefighters were called to the scene at about 4:30 a.m., Saturday.

The fire crews, state fire marshal and BCI are trying to determine the cause of the fire.

The Tuftes’ three children who died were 11 year old Alex, 9 year old Melody, and 7 year old Spencer.

The father,  32 year old Brandon Tufte, was transported to CHI St. Alexius Health Carrington Medical Center, then airlifted to the Twin Cities.

Carrington police Sgt. Nathan Kruse, says Brandon received severe burns and cuts.

His wife, 31 year old Dawn, was taken to the Carrington hospital and treated and released along with the couple’s roommate, 29 year old Garrett Phillips.

An online fundraising website  identifies the victims who died as three young children of Dawn and Brandon Tufte.  The Foster County Sheriff’s Department could only confirm that three children were killed in the fire, but had not released any other information.

The “GoFundMe” page  for the Tufte family funeral expenses has raised over $67,000 as of Thursday, far exceeding the $20,000 goal.
