On Tuesday’s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Buffalo Mall, Administrative Assistant, Bev Dawson said, community business leaders and service clubs will enter their favorite soup, while promoting their organization or business in their booths. The public will be able to taste the soup entries and cast their vote for the best soup in Jamestown. 100% of the proceeds benefit the Home Delivered Meal Program.
Categories will include: Peoples Choice, Most dollars raised, Best Decorated Booth, and Most Unique Soup.
She added that in conjunction with the soup cook-off, ServeYES! will host a benefit bake sale for the Home Delivered Meal Program.
Entertainment was provided by R & C School of Rock.
Also on our show, the James River Senior & Community Center’s Office Manager Rhonda Sahr said that in 2016 18,056 meals were delivered by volunteer drivers, five days a week.
She pointed out that to be eligible to receive the home delivered meals, an individual must be at least 60 years old, and meet other eligibility requires. The meal’s suggested donation $4, however no one is turned away, due to inability to pay.
