Jamestown (CSi) The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports two 15 year old West Fargo females were injured, one seriously in a one vehicle crash Friday about 5:30-p.m. on I-94 a half mile west of Jamestown.
The Ford Fiesta was traveling east on I-94 from Bismarck to Fargo when it left the roadway and entered the south ditch. The driver over corrected the vehicle and it struck a support pole for an exit sign.
The Jamestown Rescue Squad was called to assist with extrication at the scene.
Both the driver and passenger were transported to the Jamestown Regional Medical Center, the driver was later life flighted to Sanford in Fargo. Distracted driving is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash.
Both occupants were wearing seat belts
This crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota lawmakers are expected to consider some weighty issues including state tax revenue, guns and state-sanctioned casinos as they enter their second full week following the Legislature’s midsession break.
Bleaker-than-expected tax collections are the biggest worry for the Legislature as it attempts to craft the next two-year budget that begins in July. Lawmakers also will mull a proposal by the state’s top House Republican to allow state-owned casinos, as well as a package of pro-gun measures.
Monday is Day 45, which means North Dakota’s Senate and House have 25 days to clear bills in their respective calendars to meet a self-imposed deadline of 70 days. That’s 10 short of the constitutional 80-day limit.
WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Authorities say a woman had four children inside her car when she was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving on Interstate 94 near West Fargo last week.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says the 45-year-old woman was traveling 95 mph. She was arrested Friday evening on suspicion of DUI while accompanied by a minor.
The children ranged in age from 2 to 13 years old. They were all released to a mother of one of children in the vehicle.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Police say a man has been taken into custody for slashing tires and making a bomb threat in Fargo.
Authorities say the man slashed about 30 tires early Monday in south Fargo.
Police were called shortly before 2 a.m. The suspect then entered several apartment buildings and began pulling fire alarms. Some residents were evacuated.
Police say they found the suspect in the basement of an apartment building. Deputy Chief Ross Renner says the man told officers he had a bomb in his backpack. Authorities deployed a robot to check the backpack
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Election officials in states across the U.S. are trying to figure out how to fund the nation’s next generation of voting equipment.
Aging voting machines in many cases have reached the end of their lifespans. A 2002 infusion of nearly $4 billion from the U.S. government to pay for new equipment has largely dried up. Experts warn that it’s now a race against the clock in some cases, as outdated technology grows increasingly susceptible to potentially critical malfunctions.
State and county election officials in places such as Texas, North Dakota and California have sounded the alarm about aging equipment to their respective legislatures as they ask for financial assistance. But it remains a tough sell for cash-strapped legislatures.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Applications are being accepted for elk, moose and bighorn sheep hunting licenses in North Dakota.
The Game and Fish Department says the deadline is March 22.
A total of 389 elk licenses are available for the fall hunt, an increase of 51 from last year. A total of 247 moose licenses are available, an increase of 45.
A bighorn sheep hunting season is tentatively scheduled for the fall, but it won’t be finalized until after a summer population study. From two to eight licenses are usually issued in years when hunting is allowed.
Elk, moose and bighorn sheep lottery licenses are issued as once-in-a-lifetime licenses in North Dakota. Hunters who have received a license in the past aren’t eligible to apply for that species again.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (UJ) — A combination of Concordia points in the paint and an off-day shooting performance were too much for the Jimmie women’s basketball team to overcome as the No.1 Bulldogs knocked off third-seeded Jamestown 74-59 Saturday in the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Championship.
The Jimmies, women’s basketball team’s season ends for the 2016-17 season with a 27-6 record.
UJ guard, McKayla Orr, added a game-high 21 points, in the tournament’s quarterfinals Elite 8.
UJ shot a respectable 12-of-34 from three-point range, but made only seven of their 29 attempts inside the arc to finish the game at 30.2% from the floor. Meanwhile, Concordia held a 34-12 edge in points in the paint and made 50% (20-of-40) of their two-point shots.
The Bulldogs, who are the No. 2 team in the Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, took a 21-12 first quarter lead on 10-of-18 shooting and forced seven Jimmie turnovers. Jamestown had a 9-8 rebounding edge in the opening 10 minutes, but the swarming full-court press of Concordia made things difficult for the UJ offense.
Back-to-back Paige Emmel (JR/Bismarck, ND) three-pointers brought the Jimmies within five points, 23-18, with 7:29 left in the half. The Bulldogs then went on a 7-0 run and pushed the lead back to 12 at the 4:52 mark.
Despite trailing by 16 at the break, Jamestown started the second half with no signs of worry. McKayla Orr (JR/Ypsilanti, ND) scored seven of the Jimmies’ first nine second half points, and UJ was down by only 10.
In a quarter of runs, Concordia withstood the mini-Jamestown rally and put together a 6-0 run of their own to lead by 16, and it started to look like they would pull away.
Kyra Dewald (SR/Jamestown, ND)’s free throws with 1:46 left in the quarter finished a 10-2 Jamestown run and the Jimmies were down just eight. The Bulldogs ended the quarter with six straight points and led by 14 going into the final stanza.
The Jimmies would get no closer than eight points after a Dewald three made it 66-58 with 3:06 left. Jamestown was just 5-of-20 shooting in the fourth quarter, but four of their five makes were from three.
Orr scored a career-high 21 points to lead Jamestown, making five three-pointers, also a career-high. Dewald was the only other Jimmie in double figures with 11. Taylor Hammer (SR/Grand Forks, ND), who scored 36 against Davenport on Friday, was held to two points but grabbed 11 rebounds before fouling out early in the fourth quarter.
Concordia was led by Quinn Wragge’s 16 points and nine rebounds. Shelby Quinn had 12 and Mary Janovich 11. Philly Lammers also had nine points and 11 rebounds.
Jamestown finishes the season at 27-6 while Concordia improves to 34-2 and advances to the semifinals on Monday at 8 p.m.

Top-seeded North Dakota (22-10) rallied with a 20-9 run to force overtime after falling behind 72-61 with 7:26 left.
Geno Crandall’s layup with 7 seconds left tied it at 81. Crandall and Hooker then combined for 10 of North Dakota’s 12 points in the extra period. Center Conner Avants added 13 points on 6-of-14 shooting, and Corey Baldwin had 10 points.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota’s first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in four seasons under coach Richard Pitino comes with a proximity bonus.
The Gophers get to play nearby in Milwaukee, as the No. 5 seed in the South Region. They’ll play in the first round on Thursday afternoon against a dangerous No. 12 seed in Middle Tennessee, which was a No. 15 seed last season and beat No. 2 seed Michigan State in the first round.
With a 24-9 record after finishing 8-23 last season, the Gophers engineered the biggest turnaround of any NCAA Division I team. Junior center Reggie Lynch says Pitino told his players the goal should be to win two games to reach the Sweet 16 and then “figure it out from there.”

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Martin Truex Jr. passed Brad Keselowski with two laps to go and avoided a last-lap wreck that led to a pit-road brawl and left Kyle Busch bloodied in a wild finish to the NASCAR Cup race Sunday.
An aggressive Joey Logano got into Busch, sending him spinning down pit road at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Moments later, Busch and Logano tangled, with crew members pulling Busch away as blood ran down his forehead.
“There wasn’t much talking, just a lot of swinging,” Logano said. “I was racing hard there at end.”
Busch was pulled up off the ground by crew members and quickly treated and released at the infield care center.
Kyle Larson was second, followed by Chase Elliott, Logano and Keselowski.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Sebastien Bourdais pulled off a major upset Sunday by driving from last place to win the IndyCar season-opener at St. Petersburg.Bourdais made an offseason move to Dale Coyne Racing, convinced he could help turn around the small team. The French driver brought two engineers from his glory days and was determined to recreate his early success.
But few expected it to come Sunday on the temporary street course in St. Pete, the town Bourdais calls home. Team Penske was seeking its fourth consecutive victory in the event. A problem in qualifying meant Bourdais started last in the 21-car field.
It made no difference. He earned his 36th victory, breaking a tie with Bobby Unser for sixth on IndyCar’s career win list. It was the fifth win for the Coyne team.
Simon Pagenaud finished second, almost 10 seconds behind.
UNDATED (AP) — The field is set for the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, and the top seeds are Villanova, Kansas, North Carolina and Gonzaga.
Villanova is the first overall seed as it seeks a second straight national championship. The Wildcats head the East Regional, with Duke the No. 2 seed. Baylor and Florida round out the top four seeds in the regional.
Kansas is No. 1 in the Midwest despite its loss to TCU in the Big 12 quarterfinals. Louisville is the second seed, followed by Oregon and Purdue.
North Carolina’s loss to Duke in the ACC semifinals didn’t derail the Tar Heels’ path to the top seed in the South. North Carolina, second seed Kentucky and No. 3 UCLA have combined for 25 NCAA titles. Butler snared the fourth seed in the South.
Gonzaga has a No. 1 seed for the second time and will head the West bracket. Just behind the Bulldogs in the region are Arizona, Florida State and West Virginia.
Northwestern has landed in the tournament for the first time in school history, grabbing the eighth seed in the West.
Teams getting left off the bubble included Syracuse and Illinois State.
The tournament begins Tuesday and Wednesday in Dayton, with opening-round games that will include matchups between the last at-large teams invited into the draw: No. 11 seeds Providence vs. Southern California and Kansas State vs. Wake Forest. Mount St. Mary’s will take on New Orleans on Tuesday, one day before North Carolina Central battles UC Davis.

PALM HARBOR, Fla. (AP) — Adam Hadwin has earned a spot in the Masters field by winning the Valspar Championship.
The Canadian closed with an even-par 71 for a one-stroke victory over Patrick Cantlay. Hadwin lost a two-shot lead with one swing on the 16th hole when his tee shot sailed into the water and led to double bogey. He recovered by closing with back-to-back pars before Cantlay bogeyed the final hole.
Hadwin was 14-under for the tournament.
Jim Herman and Dominic Bozzelli tied for third at minus-12.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House may be doubling down today on its allegations of government surveillance. Senior White House adviser Kellyanne Conway suggests in comments to New Jersey’s Bergen County Record that snooping may have gone beyond the president’s accusation that former President Barack Obama had his phones tapped in Trump Tower. Like her boss, Conway offered no evidence. Some Republican lawmakers have asked for evidence by today.
NEW YORK (AP) — The Northeast is expected to turn white under a thick coating of snow in the next 24 hours or so. A powerful nor’easter could bring blizzard conditions and more than a foot of snow to some parts of the region. Farther south, even Washington D.C. is expecting six to 10 inches. It would be the capital region’s first serious snow of the winter.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The maneuvering is well under way as an April 28 deadline looms for Congress to pass a huge package of leftover spending bills and avoid a partial government shutdown. Top Senate Democrats are warning Republicans against adding billions of dollars for President Donald Trump’s U.S.-Mexico border wall to the upcoming $1 trillion-plus catchall spending package. The letter also warns against adding other “poison pills.”
