Jamestown  (CSi)  The 39th Annual, 2017 Runnin’ O’ The Green fundraiser was termed successful by fundraiser, Larry Knoblich.

He says, with just about all the bars reporting, he estimates this year’s total dollars raised was over $25,000.  Of that $10,000 will be distributed to cancer patients and the balance going to the Elks Camp Grassick.

The Run sold about 250 shirts, the highest amount over the years.

Knoblich said there were around 30 volunteers who supported the run.

He said this year there were 1,820 participants, representing 131 North Dakota communities, 13 states and three foreign countries.  He adds with that many visitors participating it’s important for the locals to show a good example with good behavior, and welcome to all participants.

He says this year law enforcement reported 20 arrests of various infractions, this year, down from 60 in 2016.

He pointed out that law enforcement made their presence known during the run, on foot, in uniform and in vehicles.

Larry says he’s already looking forward to the 40th Runnin’ O’ The Green in 2018.
