Jamestown (CSi)  Changes in the releases from Jamestown Dam and Pipestem Dam were made Monday afternoon.

Pipestem Dam Manager Bob Martin with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says, the release from Pipestem Dam was decreased from 100 cfs, to Zero, while the Jamestown Dam release was increased from 100 cfs. To 450 cfs

The new release of 450 cfs will raise the level of the James River through Jamestown by at least a foot.  No action is required by the city with that level.

Martin says over this past weekend, run off from the upper basin above Jamestown Dam increased to 2600 cfs.

He points out that the goal, depending on any major rain event that may occur, is to keep the Jamestown Dam release at 450 cfs, and Pipestem Dam at a zero release until June 1, 2017 and bring down the Jamestown Rservoir flood storage by seven feet, to near the freeze up level.  Currently Jamestown Reservoir is 12-percent in the flood storage area.  Pipestem Dam is 16 percent in the flood storage area, both acceptable at this time.
