The fire is reported to have started in the rear of the mobile home, which was extensively damaged.  The structure is uninhabitable and the Red Cross is assisting the family.

No other structures were involved.

City Fire Chief Jim Reuther says an electrical system problem may have been the cause of the fire as the investigation is continuing.

The units were on the scene about 90 minutes.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota teachers will create new lessons for math and English now that the state Department of Public Instruction has approved new standards to guide teaching in grades K-12.

Educators are expected to meet over the summer to adjust their instruction. The state will also select a new standardized test.

Last year, 71 math teachers and English teachers began rewriting the standards. The department approved those standards last week.

The former math and English standards were based off the Common Core and had been in effect since 2011. Common Core aimed to instill a set of standards in schools throughout the United States, which faced backlash from parents and conservative groups who viewed them as a federal overreach.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A unique operation in northwestern North Dakota that turns paddlefish eggs into caviar and uses the revenue for community improvements and fish research is suspending operations.

North Star Caviar for a quarter century has offered free fish-cleaning services to anglers during the May paddlefish season on the Yellowstone and Missouri rivers in return for keeping the eggs.

Board chairman Greg Hennessy says a glut of cheap Chinese caviar on the market has affected sales.

North Dakota’s Game and Fish Department is trying to find a group to provide the fish-cleaning service, with the start of the season nearing.

Game and Fish has received 25 percent of the caviar proceeds, and Fisheries Chief Greg Power says he isn’t sure how that will be replaced should North Star Caviar’s problems prove long-term.

BURNSVILLE, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota-based Pawn America has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, but the company’s president says the move is a reorganization and not a shutdown.

Pawn America President and founder Brad Rixmann in a message to employees said he plans to reorganize and emerge from bankruptcy stronger.

The retail chain doesn’t yet have a restructuring plan in place, so it has no details on what stores might close or if any of the chain’s 450 employees will be cut.

In world and national news…

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP)  The biggest non-nuclear bomb ever dropped in combat by the U.S. military killed 36 militants in eastern Afghanistan, officials say, with villagers in the remote, mountainous area describing being terrified by the “earsplitting blast.” Pakistanis who live near the border say the explosion was so loud that they thought a bomb had been dropped on them.

WASHINGTON (AP) Pentagon officials say the U.S. commander in Afghanistan who ordered use of the “mother of all bombs” did not need approval in advance from President Donald Trump. The officials say Gen. John Nicholson has standing authority to use the massive ordnance air blast bomb, or MOAB. He had that authority before Trump took office in January.

WASHINGTON (AP) The Trump administration has settled on a North Korea strategy: “Maximum pressure and engagement.” U.S. officials say the president’s advisers weighed a range of ideas for getting North Korea to abandon its nuclear program, including military options and trying to overthrow the isolated communist dictatorship’s leadership. They also looked at accepting North Korea as a nuclear state. In the end, however, they settled on a policy that appears to represent continuity.

WASHINGTON (AP)  President Donald Trump’s voters can be a forgiving lot _ up to a point. The president’s recent shifts in foreign policy positions have got his supporters pondering just where to position themselves – from a mere shrug of the shoulders to full-on cause for concern.
