Update…recap….

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Fire Department, early Friday morning  just after four o’clock, was called to a fire that damaged a mobile home  at Sunnyside Trailer Court in Northwest Jamestown.

Jamestown Police Lt. Justin Blinsky says the occupants, a 25 year old male and his  four year old son safely escaped, but suffered smoke injuries and were taken by Jamestown Area Ambulance Service to Jamestown Regional Medical Center, for treatment.

The fire is reported to have started in the rear of the mobile home, which was extensively damaged.  The structure is uninhabitable and the Red Cross is assisting the family.

No other structures were involved.

City Fire Chief Jim Reuther says an electrical system problem may have been the cause of the fire as the investigation is continuing.

The units were on the scene about 90 minutes.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Medical marijuana will soon be legal in North Dakota.

Legislators approved a regulatory plan last week after voters approved the drug last fall. The state health department is aiming to have a system operating in a year, with registered patients able to get the drug from eight state-approved dispensaries. Two state-approved manufacturers will make it.

There are plenty of rules for producers, dispensers and users.

State law lists 17 qualifying medical conditions, along with terminal illnesses. Users will need authorization by a doctor or nurse practitioner and certification by the state.

Approved medical marijuana forms include capsules, a topical product for the skin or hair, a tincture solution and a patch. Patients can smoke it if a health care provider recommends it.

The state won’t regulate pricing.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — With the number of commercial drones expected to soar into the millions in the next few years, it spells opportunity for avionics shops and budding drone mechanics who could secure lucrative careers repairing aircraft. And it won’t take a four-year college degree.

A community college in northwestern Minnesota that has been teaching unmanned aircraft maintenance for larger military-type drones is expanding its program to include smaller drone repair. Officials at Northland Community and Technical College are promising a high-paying job after just one or two years.

One Northland student, 26-year-old Chris Rohlfing, is taking drone maintenance and repair classes after serving four years in the military. He plans to include drone repair as part of a business to help local farmers fly unmanned aircraft to grow crops.
