Viola Constance (Olson) Vigen, 89, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, ND.

Vi was born on January 28, 1928 to Harry and Annie (Kyllo) Olson in Greenfield Township. She was raised on the family farm and attended rural school. In 1950 she married Wayne Vigen and they made their homes in Mayville, Walhalla, and Carrington. Following Wayne’s death in 1999, Vi moved to Jamestown where she resided until her passing.

As a 63-year old member of the American Legion Auxillary, she held many positions including North Dakota State President and National Executive Committeewoman. She was also active in her church and numerous local clubs and fraternal organizations. For enjoyment, her passions included gold, bowling, needlework, arts and crafts, music, watching sports, cooking Norwegian delicacies, and spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Vi is survived by her son, Doug (Carla), Grand Forks, daughters; Connie Ferm, Minot and Linda (Richard) Kust, Jamestown, grandchildren; Vanessa (Fred) Menghini, Baxter, MN, David (Dee DeSautel), Grand Forks, Todd (Amber) Ferm, Minot, Samantha (Michael Raatz) Carlson, Bismarck, great-grandchildren; Alexis, Anthony, and Sophia Menghini, Nathaniel and Kolby Ferm, Jace and Spencer Carlson, and Lucian Raatz, sister; Eleanor Amb, Mayville, sisters-in-law; Darlene Olson, Clinton, MN and Donna Hallick, Grand Forks, and many nieces and nephews. Vi is also survived by 4 step-grandchildren, 13 step-great-grandchildren, and 6 step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 5 brothers, 1 sister, a son-in-law, and a great-grandson.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2017 at Atonement Lutheran Church, Jamestown.
Visitation: One hour before the funeral service at the church.
Interment: Carrington Cemetery, Carrington, ND.
