Jamestown (CSi) The start up of the Jamestown Residential Recycling program has been delayed until August 1, 2017.
At the Recycling informational meeting, on Wednesday morning at City Hall, Recycling Center of North Dakota, LLC formerly Renaissance Recycling, Manager Ralph Friebel said the later start up stems from the City of Jamestown being notified of a delay in receiving the new trucks that will allow automated pick up of both recycle and garbage bins.
He indicated that the city’s automated garbage pick up will also be delayed for the same reason, with the date of implementation to be announced.
When fully implemented the garbage pick up will remain on the same day on a weekly basis, and the recycling bin contents will be picked up the same day as the garbage, but every other week.
The delay will have no effect on the present city collection of garbage.
Wednesday morning’s meeting was shown live on CSi 67 with replays.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Gov. Doug Burgum has vetoed some or all of nine bills passed by the Legislature, including portions of the Public Employees Retirement System budget.
One section Burgum struck down would have had the state terminate its six-year health insurance contract with Sanford Health Plan two years early, in 2019. Sanford began providing coverage in 2015 after out-bidding Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota, which had provided coverage for nearly four decades.
The bill would have made the system’s board solicit bids for a new contract, with a self-insurance plan being the primary bid. House Majority Leader Al Carlson had pushed for a self-funded plan, citing rising costs under the current plan.
All told, Burgum signed 440 bills this session, 10 with line-item vetoes, and vetoed three complete bills.
WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) — The attorney for the McKenzie County sheriff accused of misconduct says letters sent to Gov. Doug Burgum from the former special prosecutor in the case have violated his client’s due process rights.
Defense lawyer Mike Geiermann is asking that the case against Gary Schwartzenberger be dismissed. The sheriff is accused of making excessive charges on his office credit card during a trip to a conference in Las Vegas in 2015. Schwartzenberger later paid for the charges, but a criminal affidavit alleges the charges were made in violation of a county policy.
The new prosecutor, Michael Mahoney, says the case is still intact and proceedings against the sheriff should continue.
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A former Las Vegas stripper who ran a drug trafficking ring that stretched from Washington to North Dakota has been sentenced to more than 17 years in federal prison.
52-year-old Loren M. Toelle was also sentenced to five years of probation on Tuesday in federal court in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Toelle, who was married to Dr. Stanley Toelle of Coeur d’Alene, pleaded guilty in January to being the leader of a drug-trafficking ring that involved her children and friends from 2009 to 2016.
The group sold oxycodone, heroin, and methamphetamine in Idaho, Washington, Montana and North Dakota.
Loren Toelle pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and conspiracy to launder money. As part of the plea agreement, Toelle forfeited assets of more than $2 million in cash and property.
MINOT, N.D. (AP) — The logistics of keeping pedestrians and bicyclists moving back and forth across the Souris River continues to be a topic of conversation when it comes to new levees and flood walls associated with a proposed flood protection project for Minot.
That while the exact locations of flood protection levees and walls in Minot are still being developed some residents say more openings should be added to the plan.
Leif Snyder, a resident who supports adding another flood wall opening near downtown Minot, says the existing plan leaves northeast Minot pedestrians without good access to any of Minot’s fitness paths.
Minot Public Works Director Dan Jonasson says the city is looking into developing ways for pedestrians to go through or over the new levees.

NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION PLAYOFFS
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Kawhi Leonard had 34 points, eight assists and seven rebounds, and the San Antonio Spurs overcame the loss of Tony Parker to beat the Houston Rockets 121-96 on Wednesday night and even the Western Conference semifinals at one game apiece.
Parker did not return after hurting his left leg with 8:43 remaining in the game. Spurs officials said Parker will undergo an MRI on Thursday morning.
Parker fell to the court after missing an uncontested short jumper. He grabbed his left knee immediately upon landing and remained on the court for a few minutes. He attempted to walk, but had to be basket carried by teammates to the back. Spurs owner Julianna Hawn Holt rose from her courtside seat to point and scream at an official after Parker exited the game.
Houston point guard James Harden was limited to 13 points on 3-for-17 shooting.
CLEVELAND (AP) — LeBron James scored 39 points, hopped Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on the career playoff scoring list and pushed the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 125-103 blowout over the Toronto Raptors in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series on Wednesday night.
Just like a year ago in the conference finals, the Cavs are up 2-0 on the Raptors, who had better figure some things out or this series will be over quickly. Toronto was blown out for the fifth straight time in Cleveland in the playoffs, losing each by an average of 24.2 points.
Game 3 is Friday night at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre, where the Raptors will have the crowd on their side.
However, they won’t have James, who has won a road game in 27 consecutive series and appears determined to toss Toronto aside. He finished 10 of 14 from the field.

WASHINGTON (AP) — After months of debate, lawmakers are set to vote on a measure majority Republicans have drafted to replace Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act. GOP leaders are speaking optimistically about the prospects for passage which the party has been trying to resuscitate since it was pulled from the floor because of a lack of support. The version up for a vote today is the product of a compromise between members of the conservative GOP Freedom Caucus and the moderate Tuesday Group.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump, who garnered significant support from evangelicals, is set to sign an executive order easing restrictions on political activity by churches. At a National Day of Prayer event at the White House, Trump will sign an order that gives the IRS greater leeway to avoid enforcing a 63-year-old regulation telling churches and non-profits they risk losing their tax-exempt status if they endorse political candidates for office.
