Dolores M. “Lory” Wanzek, 86, of rural Courtenay, ND, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 10, 2017 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, ND.
Dolores was born November 19, 1930, in Corrine Township, near Courtenay, the daughter of Albert and Pauline (Stamka) Siebert. She graduated from Courtenay High School in 1948. Dolores worked at the Anne Carlsen School for Children, Farmers Union State office in the kitchen, and the Wimbledon and Kensal Cafes. She was also a cook at the Kensal Public School for many years. Dolores and Leonard Wanzek were united in marriage on June 12, 1950 in the basement of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Courtenay. They made their home on the Siebert homestead west of Courtenay.
Dolores was President of PTO, member of the School Hot Lunch Board, Durham Homemakers, and the St. Mary’s Altar Society. She was also a member of Stutsman County Dairy Women, State Dairy Women, and Mid-America Dairy.
Dolores is survived by son, Chuck (Amy) Wanzek, Bernie (Shelly) Wanzek, Bill (Lori) Wanzek, John Wanzek, and Fred (Kelley) Wanzek; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rita Nelson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard; daughter, Jody; sister, Lorraine “Tootie” (Gary) Reeves; brother-in-law, George Nelson, Jr.; and niece, Georgia.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown.
Visitation: One hour before each service at St. James Basilica, Jamestown.
Vigil: 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 15, 2017 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown.
Interment: St. Mary Cemetery, Courtenay.
