Jamestown (CSi) At 8:58pm May 24, the Jamestown Fire Dept was called out to a fire in the 1000 block of 4th Ave  NE.  It was reported by dispatch that a passerby saw fire in the window of the home and was trying to contact the people inside.

The home, however was not occupied by the resident when the fire started.

Lt. Sheldon Mohr says an unattended stove in the kitchen was the cause, that was left on or malfunctioned, destroying the stove. Considerable smoke damage was reported but  no other structural damage.

Five units and  29 firefighters were on the scene about 45 minutes.

The American Red Cross was attempting to contact the resident Wednesday evening to determine if services are need, for shelter.
