Mary Ann Johnson, age 89, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Valley City, ND, died Thursday June 8th at Elim Care Center, Fargo, ND.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday, June 16th at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Valley City.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Lerud Schuldt Mathias Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church on Friday morning.

A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday evening at the Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery near Valley City.

Mary Ann Beck, the daughter of John and Gertrude (Helton) Beck, was born May 12, 1928 in Munich, ND.

Mary Ann grew up and attended school in Munich and later attended the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND.

She moved to Valley City where she met Robert Johnson.

They were married on October 12, 1948 and made their home in Valley City where they raised their family.

Mary Ann worked for a number of years at Mercy Hospital and the Nearly NU Store.

She enjoyed the St. Catherine’s Quilters Group as well as reading, gardening and various crafts.

In 2013, she moved to Fargo, ND to be closer to her family.

Mary Ann lived her life in faithfulness to the Lord and was a devoted wife and mother.

Mary Ann is survived by her four sons, Robert (Carol) Jr, Grand Forks, ND, Rodney (Paulette), Valley City, ND, Greg, Marion, IA and Kirby (Kris) Madison, WI; five daughters, Deborah (Jeff) Johnsen, Pamela (Wayne) Aslesen and Nancy Gehring, all Fargo, ND, Sandra (Guy) Frisinger, Helena, MT and Barbara (Tim) Allen, St. Paul, MN; two sisters, Euphelia Michels, Apple Valley, MN and Pat Beck, Fargo, ND; one brother, Rallan Beck, Munich, ND; 15 Grandchildren; 13 Great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Sr, a daughter, Mary Pat Johnson and a brother Roger Beck.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations made to the Hospice of the Red River Valley or the Valley City Open Door Center.
