Jamestown  (CSi)   In a letter to the Stutsman County Commission, the county’s Auditor & Chief Operating Officer, Casey Bradley tendered his resignation.   His last day will be August 4, 2017.

Bradley stated in his letter that he is “extremely proud” of everything the county and its staff have accomplished in his time in the position.

The letter stated that he is resigning his position because he and his family have been “subject to countless malicious attacks personally and professionally…and…that attacks he endured in person and via social media have impacted their quality of life in Jamestown.”

In December of 2016 Bradley had allegations lodged against him, saying he created a hostile work environnment in conjunction with a county employee’s resignation.

Following an investigation by Mercer County Sheriff Dean Danzeisen the matter was dropped in April this year, as there were no facts to support the claim by the former county employee, and no complaint had been filed.

Bradley was hired as the county’s auditor/chief operating officer in August 2011.

Stutsman County Commission

Commissioners,
It is with the deepest regrets that I am writing this letter to you, please accept this letter as my formal resignation as Stutsman County Auditor/COO. It has been a tremendous honor to have served in this position for the past five and a half years and to have had the opportunity to work with such a great board and exceptional staff. I have truly enjoyed coming to work each day and having the opportunity to work through the challenges and opportunities that have faced Stutsman County over the course of my tenure.
I am extremely proud of everything we have accomplished as an organization and believe Stutsman County is very well positioned for continued success into the future. The changes we made to our Federal Disaster projects yielded over $6 million in costs savings, the changes in corrections have already yielded more than $2.2 million in taxpayer savings and will continue saving about $400,000 per year, our proactive approach to legislative matters resulted in killing a bill that would have cost our taxpayers over $11million. These are just some of the larger matters we have succeeded in; there are numerous changes that have resulted in increased efficiencies that have also yielded tens of thousands of tax dollars being saved as well. All of these successes are directly attributed to the tremendous management team and staff, who with the support of the board, have not only helped pioneer these changes but made them a reality for our organization.
While we have been extremely successful as an organization, my family and I have been subjected to a countless malicious attacks personally and professionally. My family was forced to stop camping in the local campgrounds because every time we were there it would turn into non-stop complaints. While performing her duties as a State employee, my wife was verbally assaulted by a local insurance agent because he was displeased that his close personal friend resigned his position two or three years earlier from the county when he finished that tirade he then had the audacity to berate her about his road and the wind project. My wife had never heard of the employee nor had any idea of what road he was even speaking of but this was of no consequence to this person, who I had never met nor ever even spoken too. When I confronted this person we sat down and went through his friend’s employee personnel file and as it turns out the road he berated my wife over was a township road and it wasn’t even the windfarm project workers he was complaining about.

Never once did this person have the decency to apologize for his behavior, attacking someone’s spouse who had absolutely nothing to do with anything he was mad at and something he never even bothered to find out the truth about. I’ve had attorneys hired to personally and professionally attack me, fabricate lies about me, and just flat out slander me. I had and employee who demanded a pay raise and was told no, turn around and fabricate just about every heinous thing they could dream up and tell it to everyone and anyone who would listen to them.

This former employee even went so far as to go to a local legislator’s birthday party and use it as a forum to slander not only me but there are also accounts they were actually slandering my kids. Our own State’s Attorney launched a bogus investigation against me to seek revenge against me because I dared to stick up for his staff and the way he treats them. I have numerous flat out lies written on social media by people whom I’ve never met and who clearly have no care for the truth or decency. All of this has had a detrimental effect on my entire family from my teenage children coming home from school in tears because of all the nasty hateful things kids are saying to them at school that they are reading from grown adults writing on social media or saying at home. This has even made it all the way to my 10 year who actually came home visibly shaken over comments other kids had made to him about me.
I’m sure these people for some sick and twisted reason will feel very successful seeing me resign. Nonetheless, I have truly have enjoyed my tenure Stutsman County and the people that I have gotten to work with, but my family has endured many of these issues for the better part of the past four years and there has to be a point where I have to protect them from the grown adults who freely attack me for doing my job and make up lies about me.
My last day of employment with Stutsman County will be August 4, 2017. I will work diligently with staff to ensure that my departure does not cause a significant disruption for the county and hope to have the bulk of the 2018 budget prepared prior to my departure.

Respectfully,
Casey Bradley
Auditor/COO
