Bertram Hilber, 75, of Jamestown, ND, died on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 in Southard, Oklahoma.

Bert was born on April 16, 1942, the son of Bertram and Mitzi (Bidaux) Hilber in Fargo, ND.

He graduated high school from Central High in Fargo. Bert eventually moved to Jamestown and while working at the North Dakota State Hospital, Bert met and married, Barb Mehl, and they were married on November 14, 1970. He owned the Hitching Post for 21 years prior to his retirement.

Bert was an avid reader, always ready for trivia, an old movie buff. He was a diehard Yankees fan as well as a New England Patriots fan. Bert loved amusement parks, especially roller coasters, trips to ball parks, his dogs, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, and his motorcycle buddies.

Bert is survived by his wife; Barb Hilber, daughter; Kris (Dave) McBride of Shevlin, MN, son; Eric (Laura) Hilber of Moorhead, MN, grandchildren; Parker (Sally) McBride, Shannon McBride, and Zachary, Logan, and Hayden Hilber, great-grandchild; Barrett McBride, brothers; Ralph (Christine) Hilber, Paul (Kathy) Hilber, and Keith Hilber, and sisters; Margo Bernardy and Lynette Hilber.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Bertram and Mitzi Hilber, and his brother-in-law; Randy Bernardy.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 at Atonement Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Jamie Desai officiating.

Interment: Drake Cemetery
