City Fire Chief Jim Reuther, on scene said the fire was contained to the two stall garage, with concrete block walls and a wooden upper structure, with extensive fire damage to the garage, destroying the contents.

Fire fighters brought out at least one small propane tank that was stored in the garage, without incident.

Otter Tail Power Company was on the scene to disconnect electricity to the garage.

Fire fighters extracted heavy smoke from the garage.

No other structures were involved.  A car parked adjacent to the garage was not fire damaged.

Reuther said it’s not known if the garage was occupied at the time of the fire.

He said the garage was recently being occupied as a living space.

No cause of the fire was immediately determined, as the investigation continues by the Jamestown City Fire Department and Jamestown Police Department.

JFD was assisted at the scene by the Jamestown Police Department, and the North Dakota BCI, who Reuther says partners with the fire department as part of a task force.

No injuries were reported.

On the scene were six city fire units, and 30 fire fighters who cleared the scene at 1:10-p.m.

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — A Michigan man is dead in a semitrailer accident in the North Dakota oil patch.

The Highway Patrol says 69-year-old Clarence Cunningham, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, was run over by his own truck about 8 a.m. Sunday at a rural well site.

The circumstances of the incident aren’t clear. The patrol says it appears the truck began to roll after Cunningham got out, and he was run over when he tried to get back into the truck and fell off the running board.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Officials in North Dakota have arranged for tons of donated hay for drought-impacted ranchers in the Dakotas and Montana. Now they need truckers to haul it.

North Dakota’s Agriculture Department, North Dakota State University and the Michigan-based nonprofit Ag Community Relief earlier this month announced a program to accept hay donations at a site near the Fargo campus. The hay will be distributed through a lottery drawing next month.

North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring says about 30 semitrailer loads of hay have been donated. His agency is looking for help hauling it to the Fargo site.

There is heavy interest in the hay lottery. The department has received more than 800 applications from ranchers in the three states.

HEBRON, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota couple who are displaying a Confederate flag outside their home say they don’t intend to take it down following the deadly white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Bob and Toni Jones have been displaying the flag outside their Hebron home for a few months since finding the flag at a flea market. The couple says to them the flag represents history and part of the American story.

Bob Jones says the flag to him symbolizes “freedom, change and love.”

Hebron City Councilman Harvey Tibor says that although he has his own opinions about the flag, he doesn’t plan to address it. He says no one has complained about the flag to the council.

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — U.S. Sen. Mike Rounds is hosting a Senate subcommittee field hearing in Pierre on Missouri River management.

The South Dakota Republican is chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Subcommittee on Superfund, Waste Management and Regulatory Oversight.

Tuesday’s field hearing will deal with oversight of the Army Corps of Engineers’ management of the river.

The hearing begins at 10 a.m. Central time in Room 413 at the South Dakota Capitol.

In world and national news…

NDATED (AP) — Northwest cities not quite in the path of totality also enjoyed the solar eclipse. Boise is not in totality, but birds quieted down briefly when 99.5 percent of the sun was blocked. And some neighborhoods erupted into applause and hooting as residents cheered the show from their yards.

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — The police chief for Spain’s Catalonia region says the extremist cell suspected of carrying out last week’s fatal van attacks has been broken now that the 12 members authorities had identified are all accounted for. Regional police chief Josep Luis Trapero made the assessment after two of his officers shot and killed the one suspect who was thought to still be at large on Monday. Trapero says eight of the men responsible for the attacks that left 15 people dead are dead themselves.

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — The victims of last week’s attacks in Barcelona and a nearby resort town came from around the world and across generations; the latest identified was a Spaniard who was stabbed to death by one of the attackers. He was among 15 people killed and more than 120 others wounded in Barcelona and the nearby town of Cambrils on Thursday and Friday.

SINGAPORE (AP) — The U.S. Navy is ordering a broad investigation into the performance and readiness of the Pacific-based 7th Fleet, after two major ship collisions in two months. Navy Adm. John Richardson, the chief of naval operations, is expected to call for a pause in operations and look at how the Navy trains and certifies its forces operating around Japan. A search is underway in Southeast Asian waters for 10 missing U.S. sailors after Monday’s collision between the USS John S. McCain and an oil tanker.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump hasn’t said what his new strategy in Afghanistan will be, but there are signs he may continue the U.S. troop commitment there. Trump tweeted over the weekend that he’s reached a decision on Afghanistan, a day after he reviewed war options with his national security team. He’ll announce his decision to the nation Monday night from the Army base next to Arlington National Cemetery, the final resting place for many U.S. troops who died fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.
