Edna Wetzel, 82, Bismarck, ND passed away peacefully to her eternal home with our Lord on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at her home in Bismarck, ND.

Edna Mayer was born March 12, 1935 on the family farm SE of Streeter, ND to August and Bertha (Dallman) Mayer. She attended rural Miller Elementary School and graduated from Streeter High School in 1953. After graduation she spent one year working at the Anne Carlson Center.

She and Raymond Wetzel were married on November 25, 1954 at Streeter, ND. They farmed for one year at Lehr on Raymond’s parent’s farm then moved to their home south of Streeter where they farmed for 55 years. Once her children were grown, Edna began work at the Gackle Care Center. A few years later they bought a home in Bismarck where Edna worked at St. Vincent’s Nursing Home until the age of 75. Edna spent time in Bismarck as well as back at the family farm.

Edna took special delight in bringing joy to her children and grandchildren and threw caution to the wind to take every opportunity to spend time with them. She also enjoyed embroidery, genealogy, gardening, reading, and visiting with friends. Her embroidery was a delight to others and she had a green thumb. Her faith in the Lord, her church and Bible studies were a mainstay in her life. She was a hard worker all of her life. She will be dearly missed, especially her laughter, smiles, kind words and loving, caring heart.

She is survived by her 4 children, Roxanne (Richard) Rabold, Colorado Springs, CO; Lynn Wetzel, Fargo, ND; Vydell Wetzel (Kevin) Crane, Philo, CA; Roger (Kathy) Wetzel, Bismarck, ND; 5 grandchildren, Nathan (Jacy) Rabold, Jordan Rabold, Jennifer Wetzel, Christina Wetzel, Kimberly Wetzel.
