BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Sen. Heidi Heitkamp says she’ll seek a second term in the U.S. Senate. Heitkamp, a Democrat who narrowly won her seat in 2012, had been widely expected to make another run. She made her announcement Wednesday on her brother Joel Heitkamp’s Fargo-based radio talk show on KFGO-AM. Heitkamp, 61, has stockpiled $3 million for what’s expected to be an expensive and hard-fought campaign to retain a Democratic seat in a strongly conservative state that Republicans think they can win.
