Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Police Department is asking citizens to report to them if anyone has come by their home, asking for money, for a non-existent fundraiser.
School Resource Officer Andrew Staska says the door-to-door scam involves people with children being asked to donate money for elementary school playground equipment.
Sttaska points out that it is not common practice for a school to go door -to -door asking for cash donations, and questions about legitimacy of any fundraiser, should be addressed to schools.
Anyone approached should contact Jamestown Police at 701-252-2414.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A Twin Buttes man has been found guilty of molesting three girls, all under the age of 12.
A federal jury convicted 73-year-old Lonnie Dale Spotted Bear on four assault charges Thursday following a three-day trial. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says the abuse of the three girls took place over a five-year period. Prosecutors say Spotted Bear tried to intimidate the girls’ guardians when he learned two of his victims disclosed his assaults.
Sentencing is scheduled Dec. 20 in Bismarck.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota oil drillers and U.S. Sen. John Hoeven want federal geologists to reevaluate the amount of recoverable crude oil in the state.
Hoeven and industry officials say a new assessment by the U.S. Geological Survey likely would show stronger production potential and attract investment.
Hoeven wants the USGS to take into account other formations in western North Dakota’s oil patch that could be exploited using technology developed for the Bakken and the Three Forks directly below it.
The USGS once said two massive shale formations held the largest continuous oil accumulation it ever assessed. But the title was given to a formation in Texas’ Permian Basin last year.
A USGS spokesman says no decision has been made on whether to do a new study.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota regulators say cleanup is nearing completion four years after a pipeline break spilled more than 20,000 barrels of oil in a wheat field in northwestern North Dakota.
The Tesoro pipeline spill was discovered by a Tioga farmer in 2013. It has been called one of the largest onshore spills in U.S. history. The company says a lightning strike may have caused the rupture.
Regulators say excavation of the site is scheduled for completion this month, with the land ready for replanting next spring.
More than 1 million tons of soil has been removed from the 13-acre site. Most of the oil from the spill has been baked from the soil before it’s replaced.
The company estimates cleanup costs at $73 million.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The Senate Judiciary committee has unanimously approved U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson of Fargo to serve on the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
North Dakota’s U.S. senators, John Hoeven and Heidi Heitkamp, announced Erickson’s approval Thursday.
The committee approval is the final step before the full Senate votes on Erickson’s nomination.
President Donald Trump nominated Erickson in June. He’s served in various judicial positions for nearly a quarter of a century. In 2003, he was nominated by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as a federal judge.
The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals handles appeals from federal courts in the Dakotas, Arkansas, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri and Nebraska.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A man serving life without parole for killing a West Fargo woman when he was 16 years old says he should be considered for a reduced sentence.
Barry Garcia is the only state inmate who was sentenced to life without parole for a crime committed as a juvenile. He was convicted of murder and aggravated assault in the shooting death of Cheryl Tendeland in 1995.
A Cass County judge in January rejected Garcia’s argument that the sentence was unconstitutional. Garcia’s lawyers are appealing to the state Supreme Court, citing a new state law that bans sentences for juveniles without the possibility of parole.
Prosecutors say the Legislature did not intend the new law to apply to Garcia.
Justices are scheduled to hear arguments in the case Thursday afternoon in Steele.
MANDAN, N.D. (AP) — Morton County emergency managers are warning farmers and ranchers about what they say is an alarming number of hay bales that have spontaneously combusted and caught fire.
Just this month about 300 hay bales burned near St. Anthony, another 100 near New Salem and about 10 burned just west of Mandan. The emergency management office says when hay is put into a stack or barn and has more than about 22 percent moisture, it has an increased risk of spontaneous combustion. High moisture hay stacks can have chemical reactions that build heat.
Mandan Rural Fire Department Chief Lynn Gustin says hay bales should be left in the field as long as possible and moisture content and temperature should be checked before stacking.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Byron Buxton’s 10th-inning homer gave the Minnesota Twins their second straight walk-off victory with a 3-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. A night after Eddie Rosario beat the San Diego Padres with a 10th-inning homer, Buxton connected on a 1-0 count off Toronto’s Luis Santos with two outs. Buxton’s 15th homer didn’t leave much suspense as it reached the second deck in left field.
UNDATED (AP) — Baseball’s longest winning streak in 101 years continues.
The Indians have extended their American League-record winning streak, making it 22 straight with a 3-2 comeback over the Royals. Newcomer Jay Bruce won it with a double in the bottom of the 10th, one day after smacking a three-run homer.
Jose Ramirez led off the bottom of the 10th with his 50th double of the season before Bruce came through with his biggest hit since joining Cleveland from the Mets.
The Royals were one strike from a 2-1 victory when Francisco Lindor (lihn-DOHR’) lined an opposite-field double off the wall in left field, bringing home the tying run. Alex Gordon almost made a leaping catch at the fence to end the winning streak.
It’s the longest major league winning streak since the 1916 Giants won 26 in a row.
The Astros’ magic number to win the West is down to three after Brad Peacock worked six innings and Marwin Gonzalez hit a two-run double in a 5-2 win over the Angels. Peacock held Los Angeles to three hits, including Luis Valbuena’s solo homer. The outcome leaves the Angels three games behind Minnesota for the second AL wild-card berth.

Parker injured her ankle in the warmups before the Sparks’ Game 1 victory, but she still played in that game and returned to her usual form in Game 2 the Pyramid.
The defending champion Sparks have won nine games in a row and can sweep the best-of-five series Sunday in Arizona.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Deshaun Watson is 1-0 as an NFL starting quarterback.
Watson had a 49-yard touchdown run and accounted for 192 total yards as the Houston Texans earned a 13-9 win at Cincinnati. He was 15 of 24 for 125 yards and no interceptions while also running five times for 67 yards on his 22nd birthday.
Watson’s TD broke a 3-3 tie late in the first half. He also led a 13-play drive that ended with Ka’imi Fairbairn’s 42-yard field goal with 1:56 remaining.
The 1-1 Texans limited the Bengals to 295 total yards, including 82 on 24 carries. Houston finished the game without cornerbacks Johnathan Joseph and Kevin Johnson due to injuries.
The Bengals are still looking for their first touchdown of the season, settling for three field goals Thursday after being shut out by Baltimore last Sunday. Andy Dalton completed 20 of his 35 passes for 224 yards.
Las Vegas Raiders…
LAS VEGAS (AP) — The public has had its first glimpse of a key document in the planned construction of the Oakland Raiders’ stadium in Las Vegas that is meant to ensure the participation of minorities, small businesses and others in the project.
The Las Vegas Stadium Authority Board on Thursday discussed an outline of the community benefits plan.
The document is meant to ensure the greatest possible participation by the local community in the design, construction and operation of the $1.9 billion project.
The team wants to kick off the 2020 season at a 65,000-seat stadium near the Las Vegas Strip.
The board also authorized a six-month deadline extension to allow the team and its contractors to determine the project’s guaranteed maximum price, which is needed for approval of the development agreement.

The Australian ran off seven birdies in a nine-hole stretch in the middle of his round and matched his best score on the PGA Tour.

TRUMP, HILL, ESPN…
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is calling on ESPN to apologize days after one of the sports network’s anchors called him a “white supremacist” and “bigot.”
ESPN said Thursday it had accepted the apology of its “SportsCenter” host Jemele Hill for her tweets about Trump Monday. Hill said Thursday she was sorry for causing her employer trouble.
ESPN has repeatedly said Hill’s comments don’t reflect the view of the network. But that apparently hasn’t satisfied Trump. He demanded on Twitter early Friday that ESPN “Apologize for untruth!”
The president also took a shot at falling ESPN subscriber numbers, writing: “ESPN is paying a really big price for its politics (and bad programming). People are dumping it in RECORD numbers.”
The network didn’t immediately issue a response to the president’s comments Friday.

LONDON (AP) — Health officials say the number of people injured in the London subway bombing has risen to 22. Eighteen were taken to hospitals by ambulance, and four more presented themselves at hospitals. None of the injuries is thought to be serious or life-threatening.
HAVANA (AP) — Cuban leader Raul Castro has stepped in personally to deny his government was responsible for a spate of American diplomats harmed in Havana. After the United States demanded answers, U.S. officials say Castro sought out the top American diplomat in Havana for a rare face-to-face conversation and relayed that he was just as befuddled about what was happening. The reaction was surprising to U.S. officials who expected Castro would react defensively or refuse to cooperate with the investigation.
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — A spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin has criticized North Korea’s latest missile launch and warned it will cause a spike in regional tensions. Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Russia “resolutely condemns” such moves and said that the missile test will “lead to the further growth of tensions and the further escalation of tensions on the [Korean] peninsula.”
MIAMI (AP) — A woman has died and three men are in critical condition in a suspected case of carbon monoxide poisoning caused by faulty generator use in Florida’s Palm Beach County. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Capt. Albert Borroto said crews responded an unknown medical call Thursday night in Loxahatchee. He says that as firefighters approached the home, their carbon monoxide detectors went off, which warned them of potential danger as they went inside.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Top lawmakers, White House officials and President Donald Trump himself are squabbling over whether an agreement has been struck to protect 800,000 young immigrants _ and if so, what it is. GOP House members insist there is no agreement to enshrine protections for the immigrants brought to America as children and now here illegally. Trump himself says he is “fairly close” to an agreement that could protect the young “Dreamers.”
