The vehicle continued across the median and struck the front of a 2006 cargo van driven by 50 year old Bakytbek Sheraliev, of Philadelphia, PA. The van slowed and stopped on the westbound exit.

No injuries reported, both drivers wore seatbelts

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Jamestown  (CSi)  – Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce Executive, Becky Thatcher-Keller was an invited guest to hear President Trump address a gathering, in Mandan on September 6, 2017, and points out heavy security for the president’s visit, speaking on his plan to cut income and estate taxes.

On Friday’s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2 she said, her invitation came from the Greater North Dakota Chamber of Commerce.

Her vantage point was seven rows from the stage, on a very warm sunny North Dakota day, as she even got sunburned, out in the open.

She said security for the event was extremely tight, as the president was joined by his daughter Ivanka along with other dignitaries, and North Dakota’s congressional delegation.  She said it was good that Trump invited the entire North Dakota congressional delegation to join him on stage.

She added that those in attendance presented their invitations and had to show ID, and woman had their purses checked.

Security included a helicopter airborne over the site, and snipers were posed on nearby roof tops.

She said that Trump’s tax cut plans, if adopted and approved by congress are positive, and will make a huge difference in small businesses, bottom lines.

The backdrop for President Donald Trump’s visit to North Dakota was a refinery in Mandan, that processes up to 74,000 barrels a day of the state’s crude oil into gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel and more.

The Andeavor facility in Mandan is the largest of two refineries that the company — until recently known as Tesoro — operates in the state.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A teenager has died after he was found unresponsive in a North Dakota State University residence hall.

The university says campus police were notified about a 17-year-old male who was unresponsive at Sevrinson Hall shortly after noon Sunday.

Emergency medical services were dispatched, but live-saving efforts were unsuccessful. Officials say the teen was not a student at the university.

The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is the lead agency into what caused the teen’s death.

MINOT, N.D. (AP) — A Minot man is accused of being too drunk to care for the four children in his house.

Officers responded to the house on Aug. 25 after a report of a child eating out of a trash can, and found 31-one-year-old Cory Walhood allegedly too drunk to care for the children. They ranged in age from 2 years to 12 years old.

Walhood faces a felony child neglect charge that carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. The Minot Daily News reports that he’s to appear in court on Sept. 25.

Court document don’t list an attorney for him, and a home telephone listing couldn’t be found.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Tribal leaders in North Dakota are calling for action after a missing Fargo woman was later found killed.

The United Tribes of North Dakota plan to send a letter to North Dakota’s congressional delegation. The letter seeks justice for the family of 22-year-old Savanna Greywind and the families of missing and murdered American Indian women.

The letter was approved during the recent Tribal Leaders Summit in Bismarck. Among the recommendations is a task force to reopen cold cases of missing and murdered American Indian women.

Greywind was eight months pregnant when her family last saw her alive on Aug. 19. Greywind’s newborn girl was found alive in the apartment of two people charged in the case. Greywind’s body was found in the Red River.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A recent incident in Fargo in which three Muslim women were threatened in a Walmart parking lot has human rights groups and others pushing for a comprehensive hate crime law in North Dakota.

The idea for a statewide statute is not popular with lawmakers and prosecutors, who say that a specific hate crime law would be harder to prove. They believe that judges already take the nature of an offense in account during sentencing.

Fargo leaders are looking into beefing up local ordinances on hate crimes.

The much-publicized threat captured on an online video last month showed a white woman telling three Muslim women sitting in that “we’re going to kill all of you.” The woman who made the comment later apologized in a meeting arranged by the Fargo police chief.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The Fargo and Moorhead, Minnesota area is trying to show refugees and other newcomers that it’s a welcoming community.

The two cities along the Red River have organized 23 events for Welcome Week 2017, a 10-day event that features 23 educational and social events.

Some say 23 events can be too much, but organizer Peter Schott said it is part of what makes Fargo’s welcome week unique. Schott coordinates the international potluck that kicks off the event.

The state’s resettlement program has relocated an average of 450 refugees a year in the past decade, most in the Fargo area.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Medical response teams from North Dakota have been sent to Florida to help vulnerable people who are staying in hurricane shelters.

The North Dakota Department of Health says it sent 23 paramedics, registered nurses and EMTs to the Florida Keys.

Florida requested help through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, which allows a disaster-impacted state to request and quickly receive assistance from other states.

Florida will reimburse North Dakota’s costs.

Health department Emergency Preparedness and Response section chief Tim Wiedrich says North Dakota stands ready to support others in their time of need.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota Bakken sweet crude oil is seeing increased demand and is temporarily priced at a premium due to recent hurricanes that hit Texas and Florida.

North Dakota Pipeline Authority director Justin Kringstad says refineries on the Gulf Coast are trying to make up for shortages of gasoline and diesel fuel.

He says Bakken runs well through refineries to maximize the yield, and the price of Bakken oil should stay up “in the near term” before going back down.

North Dakota’s oil production rose slightly in July and remained above 1 million barrels per day for the sixth consecutive month. State Mineral Resources Director Lynn Helms says if per-barrel prices rise above $50 as expected, production of a million barrels a day could become routine.

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — John Miller is officially on the job as the leader of Williston State College.

Miller was formally inaugurated as the two-year school’s fourth president on Friday.

The state Board of Higher Education appointed Miller to the post in June. He had been serving as acting president for a year before that, following the resignation of Raymond Nadolny.

Miller came to the college in 2015 as vice president for academic affairs.

BEACH, N.D. (AP) — Students at a small high school in the North Dakota Badlands were treated to a rock concert mixed with financial advice.

The band Gooding stopped in Beach earlier this week as part of its “Funding Futures Tour” meant to help students learn how to manage money. Beach is located near the North Dakota and Montana border.

Band front man Steven Gooding says  the band plays its music first before getting into the financial discussions. He says music “makes the medicine go down.”

About 160 students attended the concert. Gooding says he was impressed with their participation and questions.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Steelers defense is making up for a slow start by the “Killer Bs” on offense. The Steelers kept Minnesota in check during a 26-9 victory that pushed them to 2-0. The Steelers have allowed just 474 yards for the season. The Vikings, meanwhile, need to figure out if they can score without Sam Bradford.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Case Keenum sputtered during his spot start for injured Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford. Keenum threw for just 167 yards in a 26-9 loss to Pittsburgh. Coach Mike Zimmer offered no timetable on when Bradford could play again. The Vikings host Tampa Bay next week.

ATLANTA (AP) — Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons picked up where they left off against the Green Bay Packers, building a big halftime on the way to a dominating 34-23 victory. The rematch of last season’s NFC championship game was essentially a repeat: Ryan threw for 252 yards, Devonta Freeman ran for a couple of touchdowns and Desmond Trufant scored off an attempted pass by Aaron Rodgers that was ruled a fumble.

DENVER (AP) — The Denver Broncos crush the Dallas Cowboys 42-17 behind four touchdown throws from Trevor Siemian. The Broncos limited star running back Ezekiel Elliott to nine carries for 8 yards rushing, his lowest output of his career. Aqib Talib (ah-KEEB’ tah-LEEB) capped the rout with a 103-yard interception return for a TD. It was Talib’s 10th pick-6, just two shy of Darren Woodson’s NFL record.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Chiefs rookie Kareem Hunt reached the end zone twice, Travis Kelce took a shovel pass 15 yards for the go-ahead touchdown and Kansas City held on to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 27-20 on Sunday. Kelce’s touchdown catch with 6:25 left and Hunt’s second TD scamper appeared to have put the game away.

TAMPA, Fla. Winston completed 18 of 30 passes without an interception. The defense stymied former teammate Mike Glennon with four turnovers.

WOMEN’S NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION

WASHINGTON (AP) — Maya Moore scored 21 points, Sylvia Fowles added 17 points and 14 rebounds, and the Minnesota Lynx completed a sweep of the Washington Mystics with an 81-70 win in Game 3 on Sunday.

Seimone Augustus added 18 points as Minnesota secured its third consecutive finals appearance and sixth in seven seasons. The Lynx will attempt to win their fourth WNBA title in seven years.

Elena Delle Donne scored 15 points to lead the Mystics, who exit the playoffs after reaching the semifinals for the first time since 2002.

Tierra Ruffin-Pratt added 14 points and Kristi Tolliver had 13 for Washington, which forced the Lynx into a series-high 13 turnovers.

But the Mystics scored only 31 second-half points in their sixth loss in as many games against Minnesota in 2017, including regular season and playoffs.

PHOENIX (AP) — Candace Parker’s driving layup with 2.9 seconds to play gave the Los Angeles Sparks an 89-87 win and three-game sweep of the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA semifinals Sunday.

Parker finished with 21 points and 11 assists.

Brittney Griner missed a shot as time expired and the Sparks celebrated with shouts and embraces in front of their bench.

Odyssey Sims scored 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting. Chelsea Gray added 14 points for the defending champion Sparks, who advanced to their second straight WNBA Finals and fifth overall. They will face Minnesota in a rematch of last year’s championship, after the Lynx completed a sweep of Washington earlier Sunday.

Diana Taurasi had tied the game at 87 with a 3-pointer from the wing with 10.8 seconds left.

NASCAR…

JOLIET, Ill. (AP) — Martin Truex Jr. backed up his regular-season dominance with a victory Sunday in NASCAR’s playoff opener at Chicagoland Speedway.

Truex again proved he’ll be the driver to beat over the final nine races as he chases his first Cup championship. Truex raced to his fifth victory of the season and earned an automatic berth in the second round of the playoffs, earning even more points in his bid to compete for the title in the finale at Homestead.

Truex had a nearly 7-second lead over Chase Elliott in the final laps and won at Chicagoland for the second straight season.

Elliott was second, followed by Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson.

Truex’s No. 78 Toyota needed four tries through pre-race inspection before the car was cleared. By the end, there was no doubt the path to the NASCAR championship goes through Truex.

NORTH BRANFORD, Conn. (AP) — Authorities have identified the second person killed in a Connecticut plane crash that claimed the life of NASCAR modified champion racer Ted Christopher.

Police said Sunday that 81-year-old Charles Dundas, a resident of New York and Florida, was killed in the Saturday crash in woods near North Branford. Federal officials say the plane had left Plainville’s Robertson Airport headed for Long Island.

Dundas and the 59-year-old Christopher were the only two aboard the Mooney M20-C plane when it crashed.

Christopher was to have competed Saturday night at Long Island’s Riverhead Raceway. North Branford police Lt. James Lovelace confirmed in an email Sunday that Dundas was the pilot and Christopher was the passenger.

Police found no evidence of fire or an explosion accompanying the crash.

The cause is under investigation.

INDY CAR…

SONOMA, Calif. (AP) — Josef Newgarden won his first IndyCar championship by closing out the best year of his career as the top driver at Team Penske.

Newgarden turned in a nearly flawless performance Sunday at Sonoma Raceway to prevent his Penske teammates, as well as four-time champion Scott Dixon, from taking the title away from him. Penske driver Simon Pagenaud used pit strategy to win the race, but Newgarden finished second to win the title by 17 points.

Newgarden is only the second American in 11 years to win the IndyCar title.

The Tennessee driver held off Dixon, as well as teammates Pagenaud, Will Power and Helio Castroneves to win the championship. Of the five drivers mathematically eligible to win the title in the finale, four came from Penske.

FBC-TOP 25 COLLEGE FOOTBALL POLL

UNDATED (AP) — Clemson moved up to No. 2 in The Associated Press college football poll, jumping Oklahoma and closing in on Alabama after beating a team ranked in the Top 15 for the second straight week. The Tigers received 15 first-place votes, the most the defending national champions have received this season, and 1,446 points after beating Louisville 47-21 on the road. Alabama remains No. 1.

GOLF-BMW CHAMPIONSHIP…

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Given another opportunity to win, Marc Leishman didn’t give anyone much of a chance in the BMW Championship. Leishman closed with a 67 for a five-shot victory at Conway Farms.

Staked to a five-shot lead, Leishman seemed determined to not let another FedEx Cup playoff event get away from him. And when Justin Rose made a late run and closed within two shots, Leishman made back-to-back birdies to put away the final challenge, and then added one more for a 4-under 67 to set the tournament scoring record.

PGA Tour rookies Xander Schauffele (ZAN’-der SHOFF’-lee) and Patrick Cantlay made late birdies to get into the Tour Championship.

In world and national news…

NEW YORK (AP) — President Donald Trump is plunging into a foreign policy-focused week that will be anchored by his first address to the United Nations General Assembly. But before Tuesday’s highly anticipated speech, the president will first tackle the issue of overhauling the U.N. Trump planned Monday to address a U.S.-sponsored event on reforming the 193-member world body.

NEW YORK (AP) — Officials tell The Associated Press that President Donald Trump’s questions about the value of diplomatic and military assets led advisers to lay out the case this summer for a robust U.S. presence around the world. Aides used charts and maps in a briefing to try to persuade Trump to retain America’s global footprint. It was part of a push to counter nationalist forces in the White House. The results of that work will be on display this week when Trump attends his first U.N. General Assembly.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Authorities say police made more than 80 arrests after violence erupted during the third day of protests over the acquittal of a white police officer charged with killing a black suspect. Hundreds have gathered every day since Friday, when a judge cleared ex-officer Jason Stockley. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Mayor Lyda Krewson told reporters that “the days have been calm and the nights have been destructive.”

MIAMI (AP) — Authorities have issued a hurricane watch for Puerto Rico as Hurricane Maria churns toward the Eastern Caribbean amid forecasts it could become a major hurricane by early Tuesday. The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Maria was centered about 100 miles (160 kilometers) east of Martinique at 5 a.m. EDT Monday with top sustained winds of 90 mph (150 kph). Elsewhere, Hurricane Jose continues to churn northward over the Atlantic off the U.S. East Coast, causing dangerous surf and rip currents

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — China’s Communist Party newspaper, the People’s Daily, has criticized the United States for demanding that Beijing put more pressure on North Korea to rein in its weapons programs. It said Beijing “will never accept the ‘responsibility’ imposed by the U.S.” China also said military threats made by North Korea and the U.S. are counterproductive. North Korea launched a missile over Japan on Friday as it protested against tough new U.N. sanctions over its sixth nuclear test on Sept. 3.
