Moorhead, MN  (KFGO Radio) – Large denomination counterfeit bills are once again turning up in the FM area, not in large numbers, but enough to remind you to watch for funny money. One police officer calls it “do diligence.”

Moorhead police Lt. Tory Jacobson says don’t be embarassed to examine bills you receive, whether you’re at a business or, as in the most recent case, which involved a counterfeit bill that was exchanged in a Facebook purchase.

It was one of two fake bills reported Sunday in Moorhead. Another counterfeit bill turned up in Fargo the same day. There were no arrests in either case. There have been other counterfeit bills reported in recent weeks in the area.

Jacobson says they’re seeing more movie prop money used by counterfeiters. He says it’s easily available on the internet.
